Hi all!

Bit embarrassed to admit I am a total ignoramus on FFNs!

So anyway I bought what I assumed were these from Ann Summers/Debenhams and have been wearing them for clients but was told by my client last night that they are not the real Mcoy as in they don't have the holes for the suspenders etc.....

Fortunately, he wants to see me again this Thursday and has requested I get the real FFN's for that booking!

Of course I know I could buy online but need some for Thursday so without going into central London, can anyone recommend where I can get them? Would Debenhams do them or any other major high st stores? La Senza? Do Ann Summers do them?

Am going to have a quick scout on the net myself but as time is of the essence am asking here!

I wear FF nylons because I like the feel of them, although they can be pricey. I normally bulk-buy seconds from Stockings HQ which normally works out a lot cheaper and I find them more durable than standard stockings which I always rip on the second wear if not the first $:-\$ . They don't stretch, so you need to get the right size (the Gio brand goes by shoe size and others go by height but the packs/shops are normally clear about how to work it out).

Stockings HQ are so quick I wouldn't be surprised if stuff ordered today didn't turn up on Thursday morning, but I wouldn't count on it - a good place to buy them if you can get to it is What Katie Did on Portobello Road. The shops are fab and the prices are pretty reasonable too

. I don't honestly think you'll find them in Ann Summers or Debenhams but you could ring and ask?

Blimey...never heard of them. I've had men ask for stockings and suspenders rather than hold ups, but never heard of that. I live on Portobello so must go have a look!

I wouldn't worry about getting FF nylons just for people who ask for stockings and suspenders - they're expensive and I only wear them so much because I like them. I can't bear holdups and the horrible sticky stuff gives me a rash, but I just buy ordinary stockings from M&S for the ruffians

Stockings HQ have regular offers on if they get a load of seconds in (usually just in plain packs) where they go to 6-8 quid a pair, which is when I fill my stocking drawer up. Expect to pay ?15-25 a pair or thereabouts otherwise, so not for the maulers/watch-wearers/fancy belt buckle fans (or you can divest Mr Punter of those on the way in).

I've decided that you ladies are much nicer than me and I am a total grumpy cowbag. If I client told me my stockings weren't good enough and he wanted the 'real thing', I would be telling him to bring them with him next time if he was that desperate to see me in them.
I know nothing about FFS either Coty, beautiful as they are I don't have any. Therefore any client wanting them would be told he would have to bring them along himself. I can't help feeling a bit annoyed at you having to shell out for expensive stockings when finances are strained for you as it is

Unless this guy has offered to pay for them (and frankly I think he bloody well should have). In which case you are welcome to ignore my man hating mini rant and I will go back into my cave to hide

You shouldn't feel that you need to buy anything specifically for clients, but I read the OP as saying that she was either advertising as having FFNs or when someone asked she said "yes, I can wear those", in which case fair enough.

People who are into them can get very enthusiastic (I don't know if SHQ still has a message board, but I always felt uncomfortable when I had a look at the fanatics reinforcing each other), but most men have no idea what they are, so no need to have them in your wardrobe if you're not into the idea yourself.

By the way, they don't have holes for suspenders. There's a single loop which is a result of how they're made. Also, the foot is always reinforced.

Oh and while we're on the subject, I went crazy buying vintage FFs and modern seconds just before I stopped wearing stockings so much, so if anyone's about a size 5 in shoes and would like some, get in touch.

Yes indeed he did ask specifically if I had FFN's and I thought the Agent P pair I had were what he wanted but have since realised it's not!

I do get requests for FFNs and this is the second time it's been mentioned that what I have weren't quite right.

Personally, though I do prefer the M & S lace top as I can't stand messing about with seams etc! Actually, forget that, when I get a request for bare legs - now that's my kind of guy! ( Don't you just love those bookings that really do want you in casual clothes - jeans etc?).

Most modern stockings are very stretchy and cling to your legs, so when you put a cosmetic seam on the back it can be a right faff to get it straight. Fully fashioned stockings are made of non-stretch yarns (or sometimes old-school stretch ones, but you wouldn't think they had any stretch if you compared them to modern hosiery) which doesn't cling, so the seams pretty much straighten themselves.

I love stockings and suspender belts (the proper thick ones) but despise the plastic stuff on the top of hold-ups . yeech, it's all itchy and leaves a rash.

I second Stockings HQ, I love that site and the delivery is fast. Also What Katie Did is good too I've found. They have a section on fully-fashioned stockings, however I've never bought any as I've never really been into the seamed ones, more just the plain stockings or Opaque ones from Stockings HQ for winter x

It would be good to have some handy, but if he doesn't show and you don't work much, you may end up with them just lying around and waste money x
