Having been on the other side of this recently, estate agents / letting agencies managed to go even further down in my estimation. Forget the parasites and look for private landlords. They are interested in having tenants who will not trash the place and who pay on time rather than screwing you for fees for looking at your application.

This means no need to present false documents, and it's rather naughty to do so.
'The Ian formerly known as SW5'. What they said: "Indispensable", "You are our best resource", and (hours later!) "I'm afraid that you're being made redundant..."

Well we don't, and any more posts encouraging members to commit fraud or otherwise break the law will be removed. If you pitch up with fake documents and get away with it, fine. If somebody with a grudge then drops you in it to your landlord and they remember and report you, you could end up in court, and the courts take fraud far more seriously than you might think.

We can't stop you PMing each other about how to make a nail bomb if you want to, but condoning illegal activity is not acceptable here and will not be tolerated.

Oops! Just what I thought. Bad idea to post about such thingson a public forum. Sorry, but I think the ladies here were only trying to help me by making suggestions. They are not telling me to do anything, merely saying what has  and has not worked for them.

At the end of the day I have my own mind and whether I choose to act  on these suggestions is up to me.

I have always been above board and on the right side of the law. I have exhausted every other possible avenue so what choice do I have?

Amy/Angela Manchester if you have any better solutions that is going to get me out of this pickle then I would love to hear them.

Genuinely sorry if these posts have offended anyone. That was not the intention.

I have rented from a private Landlord in the past when I was freshly back in the country and didnt even have a UK bank account. It was a huge problem until I just offered to pay the entire 6 months in advance - at which point I had two Landlords practically fighting over me.  I was in a lucky position of having the cash available, but 6 months rent at ?750 is ?4500 which might be possible with a couple of months hard saving, shoving it on a credit card, borrowing from a mate, looking down the back of the sofa or a combination of them all.

Throwing money at a situation doesnt fix every problem in the world but this is one which it most definitely does!

Thanks Rooby. The thing is I haven't got the time to save up that amount. My current landlord is threatening rent increase to 800 pounds from 600 for a room in a shared house from October!

I am sure he can't do this really and I know I could fight it by going to the Rent tribunal but that just seems more bohter than it is worth. Plus I do not really wish to stay in my current shared accomodation :-\ :-X

Hey Lorissa,
I do understand, and I appreciate I was in a very fortunate situation.  Can you find cheaper shared accommodation as a short term fix though? I dont know your local area but that seems like a huge amount to be paying...
Hang in there though, something will sort itself out for you!

Yes it is an extortionate amount. To be honest, I would rather invest my money in getting a whole flat as I also urgently need to offer a better incall location.

Like you say I will hang in there. Fingers crossed.
