Escorting while being a single mother.

I'm just interested in reaching out to other single mothers out there. How do you balance everything. Child care arrangements and cost. Dealing with emotions that come with doing this. Anything at all just open to chat

Have you tried any search on "single mothers"?  A few threads may pop up as far as I can see. Good luck xx

Hi Eva,

Yes, the childcare arrangements and costs are a killer! Especially when you make all the arrangements and pay for it all and then the client cancels... that's the worst.

Best thing is to get a regular creche/daycare/nursery arrangement and then just plan things around those hours. It just means no evenings or overnights, which suits many people quite well.

As for the "emotions that come with doing this", I'm not sure I have experienced any, really. What kind of emotions have been bothering you?

Hi All

I'm interested in this subject too. I have a young child and am a single parent. I'm desperately trying to organise myself such that I can work to support myself and my family but my main obstacle is finding decent and affordable childcare. Due to the age of my child, i don't really want to stick him/her in childcare in the first place for some 10+ hours a day whilst I'm working somewhere. At the same time,  if I'm renting a flat/hotel room and due to the area where i live, most of the time it's very rare to find hotel rooms for under ?80. I can't really travel or tour more than an hour's travel time as i have to get back to pick up my little one. Due to incall daily accommodation costs/travel/advertising, (unfortunately I can't work from home), I can't really risk working a part time day or half day as my overheads for everything BEFORE advertising are running into the ?210 a day mark and that's per day for a 2 day incall at a hotel next month. Nobody knows what I do and i don't have any family (or close friends that I would trust in respect of childcare) that I can leave my child with. Then on top of everything I am racked with guilt about leaving him/her and worried that i won't earn enough if it's dead to pay the childminder. To the OP, it is very hard and especially if you have no support network.

Hi,

when I started this work I was a single mother (then I met my current partner). It was difficult but I was lucky enough to build up a really good client base very quickly.

Depending on the age of your child, would you consider using a professional babysitting service, run by adults? There are some very reputable ones within the UK where you book the childcare up to the day before and pay the hourly rate (think it was about ?8 an hour). To being, I would offer outcalls and then when I got a booking, I would book the childcarer, who would come to my house for those few hours. The babysitters were generally retired women or school teachers who needed extra cash in the evenings.

Out with doing the outcalls, I would do cam and phone work in the evenings when my LO was sleeping. this helped build up escort clients too though. Once I had some money under my belt, I started offering incalls at hotels. Again, I was very lucky to work in a city where I never struggled for bookings and made an absolute mint. I worked incalls when my LO was at school and then continued with cam work in the evenings.

It is possible to work as a single mum, you just have to do the foundation work to ensure you have a good client base before you shell out cash for hotels and apartments.

In terms of the "emotional" side of things; I never had any. It was a job that I went to like any other to earn money to support my family.

I don't have a school age child he is 3 and in U.S. no one charges 8 an hour in my area.  My mother does my sitting she has requested 300 a week I don't like it but keeps me flexible so can't complain too much. Juggling everything on own can be a lot but I want the best for my child.

Yup she does and her increasing it to 300 a week is pissing me off. I'm not even gone everyday more like 3 maybe 4 days out of the week

Wow ?300 a week with all due respect that takes the piss even for a mother.

I just like you fell into the same trap of using friends and family who used and abused me for the money and quite frankly did not give one damn about my child.  I then found out who was the best nursery, got my child into the nursery, she was there from 10am to 2pm mon - friday and she loved it.  I have to admit I did not have a social life my child and work which came second was my life.  Most nurseries and childcarers I used the site (childcare.co.uk) have reasonable rates.  When she went to school she would go to afterschool (costs were ?11 a day during school term and ?20 a day during holidays) 3 days a week and I worked during those hours.  But there were 3 years where I had a live in aupair that cost me ?200 a week and she was pretty fabulous. I just toured 3 days a week and the rest I was home.

You can do it but never divulge what your profession is.

My child was in school at age 3 - are there no nurseries or playgroup schools for kids that age in the US? My girl is 3 and she loves going to school each day, plus they are teaching her things (unlike in daycare). It makes me feel a lot less guilty about leaving her.
