oops - slept through booking
« on: 07 November 2010, 10:38:11 am »
Not long ago I woke up from what should have been a nap! I slept over 12 hours with  Lush porridge face mask on. Been overdoing it, I think I may have to accept that now!
Anyway, I only had one booking from a new customer. Couple of missed calls and a text. What do I do though? I normally wouldn't contact unless I have been told ok, or I know it is. This was all done over the phone, otherwise I'd just email in apology. Do I just leave it? I feel really rude and can imagine what the guy was calling me! Which. lets face it - is fair enough.
So  should I text and risk making situation worse or just forget it?
Kizz
p.s. the facemask was super crusty and most of it was on the pillow - skin very smooth now though!

Hey Girl
I think you should text an apology to him just to be polite. Poor guy. must have been sitting there all night with a boner lol

I agree - do text/email (if he's sent texts to you it presumably occurred to him that you might reply, so he shouldn't be too shocked if you do :)) an apology and explain what happened. Just be genuine and tell the truth (probably without too many kisses or "hey sexy baby my favourite client darling!" [not that you would!] just to make sure if anyone else reads it, he's not in trouble; after that, if he still decides to be cross or rude, well, you've done your absolute best so that's enough.

I find that offering him first choice of appointments should he want to reschedule sometimes works well to soothe things, or if you feel super-bad you could even offer a discount if he wants to re-book. Just bear in mind that either way, he might have just decided he's too dreadfully offended and might respond huffily to anything you say - probably not, but be prepared so you don't end up doing guilt for days on end. :)

In that situation (it's happened a couple of times - once I'd forgotten to write the appointment down and had gone out, once I over slept) or if I have to cancel same day because of illness etc I usually offer a discount to smooth things over. Obviously don't do it if it'll make you feel uncomfortable or resentful or cheap or anything - but in my experience clients become VERY forgiving when they hear 'money off' haha.

thanks - I think it's a good idea and if he gets back to me (again, after the reply text) I will offer him a discount.  Only fair and I'm sure you lot have noticed by now, I'm in this for the long game -= lol xx
