My question is: how long on average, if we this is possible to estimate of course, takes to get the first booking after setting up all what is needed..
I am listed on the agency website, since last two weeks and NOTHING so far!!!

I am one of few girls who are on the highest rate on the website , and I wonder if this is a problem.. The other thing is that i am available at evenings only, and no incalls...

 

It varies wildly, but in your case none of the price, availability and outcall only are going to help.

This is the point at which you may start to wonder how good this agency is for you. As long as some of the people they are supposed to be marketing get work, it doesn't really matter to them if you are one of them - having your details on their site costs them nothing. It matters more to you...

You might consider how much work you'd get if you went independent, charging what you'd end up with after the agency's cut. You'd end up with the same amount, clients would pay less, and the only losers would be the agency. Tough for them, although if they can't get you work, many people would consider them a bunch of losers already.

Not necessarily. If you plan to go indie and charge extremely high rates (and obviously I don't know that you are), then attracting the smaller number of punters who can (and more importantly will) pay them is going to require at the very least a smart website with beautiful photographs and some top-notch advertising, none of which comes cheap. If you're only doing outcalls you don't have smart premises to worry about at least, but Ian's right - the more limits you place on how you work, the more people you are making yourself unavailable to. You will also have to spend time answering enquiries, promoting your site and organising your own security because you won't have an agency to do it all for you, and you might be surprised how much of your time this takes up.

Since you haven't even had one booking yet, I would be inclined to be a little more realistic and not try to price the majority of your potential customers out of the market - you can always raise your rates once you've built up a bit of a client base and hopefully gained a few reviews and so on. That way you can also take advantage of the vast amount of free advertising available to the rest of us without people wondering why you're charging the earth from a Moonfruit site.
