The big question you need to be able to answer is 'why should I work for you?'

The big thing you need before getting further than thinking about it is a pile of money to spend on advertising etc.

The big issue is the illegality of controlling prostitution for gain, which is what people running agencies do. It is possible to run an agency without doing this, but we're getting into consultancy territory.

No.

That should tell you something: either I do not know what I am talking about or that it is harder than people think.

Ian is a former outreach worker who's well respected on the boards thanks to years of providing useful information. He's fielded hundreds of requests from people wanting to start their own agencies, which is why he might seem a tad jaded to you.

I wouldn't call Ian jaded, I'd say he is realistic, he tells it how it is without prettying it up, but also doesn't put you down for asking.

He is just saying what most are thinking and I apologise if this sounds condecending towards Sassychick, but if you have to ask for a step by step 'how to guide' in this industry, you are not cut out for it.

It's enough starting out as independent escort, you need to be clued up, able to think on your feet and make good judgement calls. You need a good business sense, be able to research and market yourself.

This becomes even more important if you want to run an agency or palour as you take responsibility for you workforce and are relied upon to protect and guide them.

By all means ask for specific advice on certain aspects, but if you don't have the experience and savvyness (is that a word) to do it you are cruising for a failure and it is not just yourself you put at risk.

Thankyou for replying. I dissagree with what you have just said to me.  I worked for an Agency in December time, he was a 'punter' and he didn't have a clue how to run an Agency. He was useless and he wasn't bothered about saftey for the girls and never checked out clients details.  So it's silly to say it's not for 'me' when there are lots of men haven't got a clue on how to run them and but do so successfully, it seems.

If you want to do it, do it!

You obviously have to be very up with the legalities and trying to get around things and hopefully you will try and have the best agency out there.  Your workers are your business so offering a good rate to them, excellent safety and having enough advertisements out there to get them work must be a priority.

Ok maybe I should say it is irresponsible and can put your workforce at risk, most of those men who don't have a clue only care about the money they can make out of the girls.

As Lucymay says do whatever you want to do, to be honest I have based my reply on some of the unrelated posts you have made and this coloured my responses.

Well yes, I found a book on Amazon it's rated quite a lot, thought it shows you the Ins & Outs.  For my agency I'm only going to be taking 20% which isn't that bad, so it's fair the girls earn their bit for doing the job and I get a bit of cash for answering calls, making booking and checking out clients on 192.

Is there a site for mobile numbers some guy who owned a Agency told me you can check mobile numbers online, though wasn't sure if he was making it up as he doesnt screen clients.

There was (I don't know if it is still up and running) but it was woefully out of date and most people I know understandably had their details removed from it as soon they heard of it's existance. Why would you want to check mobile numbers anyway? If you are sending women on outcalls then it's normally landline/electoral roll for home visits or the booking details for hotels, same as the rest of us.

If you are only taking 20% (which is indeed a very competitive rate, and I assume it is because you are not providing transport) then you are going to need to be very busy to cover your start up costs, website, advertising, photographs and so on. Plus, as agency bookings are supposedly down everywhere and reputation is incredibly important in this industry, do you envisage really being busy enough to cover these costs as you will need to charge competitive rates to get bookings? And have you thought about what you will do if you're not busy enough?

I'm not trying to put you off but as Cassie said, rightly or wrongly I am going on other posts you have made and I honestly don't think you have thought about what you are up against. Just because some other people (gender is irrelevant) have done something badly does not automatically mean you will do it well - I used to work at an animal rescue but that does not make me a vet. Things always look easier on the surface and this is no exception, which is why every man, his dog and his silver haired mother is starting up an escort agency.

I would do some serious research if you do decide to go ahead, and as for the legalities somebody mentioned, that's the easy part. There aren't any, and you need to think about that as well.

I knew Amy you would be on to me !  lol

Actually most men who DO own escort Agency's are out to make money off escorts, (as that is a what business is about) but I believe a fair amount is better ofcourse but I have found with other agencys I have inquired about haven't been 'all that' though, I am just starting out, I have been escorting on/off for 2 years.  I can't see why it's a problem if I want tips and want to sharpen my knowledge on the escorting business, because why else would there be 'escort business' books for people who want to be in the Business ?!  there is nothing wrong with asking a few tips or asking if anyone knows a few books there out to buy.  I'm doing it step by step at the moment on a budget I've done a Business plan already and I'm doing my spreadsheets tomorrow as I need to do some more work.
I will get there in the end, no one said life was going to be easy.

You took the words right out of my mouth. ;D I'm pretty sure last time I walked past a Waterstones, I glimpsed a book called "How To Tie Your Shoelaces And Make $$$".
