Title: Eros guide London?
Post by: ana30 on 27 March 2015, 10:32:31 am
Hiya girls,

I've been "across the atlantic" for a while and now I'm back to London (hiya again :-). Before I left I use to advertise in the Eros guide in London and it was great. Awesome. Grrrreat clients. I just came back and I'm seeing the list of "advertisers" has "shrunk" considerably (which makes me think....hmmm). I've had an ad up for a week and no calls. Zero. So I wanted to ask if Eros London is working for you guys or with the advent of Backpage Eros is no longer worth it. Besides...it's really pricey...  :-\ So just wanted some feedback here and find out how Eros guide London is doing for you.

thanks! (It feels good to be back in Europe :-)

xo Ana

Not doing great from it, tbh. The odd hotel outcall from North American clients. I'm kind of happy to keep an ad so long as it pays for itself, but these are punters who may or may not come through London once or twice a year, so it's not a great source of regulars for me. Also, in terms of clicks on my site, cheaper ads get more results for me.

I tried advertising there back in Dec '14 and they wanted me to verify myself which I wasn't going to do. Thankfully manage to get a refund. I didnt have that problem in NY. Odd.

Does anyone else need to be verified on Eros London?

I started advertising in Eros London like 3 years ago (first time using it) and they did ask me to e-mail a scan of my passport. Once they got it they called me and had a long chat with me  on the phone to make sure I was voluntairly-doing-what-I-was doing and not being forced or trafficked or whatever (they did the same thing to my girlfriend too). They want to make sure nobody is trafficked or exploited and they will go to lengths to see everything is OK with you. I've even known women who got denied in Eros because they thought she was not the person in the passport. Usually I would never EVER send a copy of my passport to any sex directory/agency/website/you name it for the obvious reasons (potential blackmail/identity theft/etc..) but The Eros guide is based in Virginia (US)  -versus some law-less third world  tax heaven  (like AW)- which is not saying much but.... anyway...let's say I trust Eros and it's the only directory I would send a copy of my ID. Of course I may be wrong and I know I'm taking a risk.

If you're taking a risk so am I; I first used Eros the first time I worked in New York in 2010, and they've had my I'd since then. As above, it's a transparent, contactable and credible advertising platform and I agree with everything in the above post.

I've used it in London a couple of times and it's been OK, but it was a few years ago and I don't know what it's like now. In New York it's where virtually all my bookings come from and I'd be seriously struggling without it there.

Eros looks good doesn't it!
My girlfriend was on it 4 times last
year, (2014) and got no jobs.

It was our major London advertising.
Started going downhill 5 years ago...mystery.

Now it's owned by that Adult Friend Finder who
are incorporating their 'sex' dating and escort reviews.

I did use it in the UK for two months (that was 5 months ago). I got one booking per month (yes, you just heard that). So basically those 2 sessions payed for my two months ads.

Eros doesn't work for me anymore (in the UK that is).I don't know about other girls. It used to be great 3 years ago.

last year in New York my phones wouldn't stop ringing thanks to my eros ad. But for some reason people don't look at eros in the UK.

Not really worth it for me - very random response, usually the odd late night call from some hotel, just when I've scraped off my war paint and am drinking a hot chocolate in my flannelette pajamas. It does cover its cost, but they're generally business men who don't come through London very often, not local clients who are likely to become regulars.

I think you can tell if a directory works by the number of adverts on it. You'll often see the same profiles of the same hard-working, serious escorts.

I noticed that Punternet is a ghost town and they haven't shown up on many Google searches in a while.

I figure there are probably niches - particularly in London - that play out differently but if they're not first page/top of first page on Google for search terms that apply to your market and they don't have a lot of ladies displayed, then it's probably a waste of money.

When I started my own website in 2013 yes I had lots bookings form Eros, many dinner dates and overnights but now is comlitly nathink few emails Time Wasters or is to expensive for them. I can see  only few agency?s advertise with them now not like before. You can try for 2 weeks or one month to see.

I heard a story today from what I believe to be a reliable source that a British SW was rejected and banned from US for 10 years because she had used her passport to verify her UK Eros account.

I should add this is a second or third hand information so I'm not 100% sure its true. But its from a reliable source and it was (apparently) defiantly because of the Eros account.

yes, we're talking about Eros.com, however 57 pounds is incredibly cheap... because the ads are like 270 pounds in london, but theyhave the same rates everywhere... ??? have you called them? they're pretty efficient with when it comes to helping you out. My guess is they must be a bit overwhelmed right now with all the backpage posters pulling their ads on eros (?). but call them up.

The one that I am on about has the words - e r o s (in yellow) and dot com in grey.

That is the price that I was charged I did not click on vip so the total amount came to that fifty seven and twenty pence.

I hope that information is not true or there goes my chance of going to visit u s a for xmas down the drain.

Yes, it's that eros.

i just logged into my account and got this message:

"Due to heavy work volumes, requests may take longer to publish than normal. All requests are still being processed as quickly as possible. We have temporarily stopped accepting incoming phone calls to focus all of our resources on your ad submissions. Thank you for your patience as we work through this busy period"

I told ya. they are pretty overwhelmed at the present time with the backpage takedown and all the US escorts posting their ads on Eros. ???

I also got this message in BIG black bold letters:

"Eros.com is a Swiss company. All advertiser data is stored on Swiss servers, and is protected by Swiss law. We respect and protect your right to privacy, and we appreciate your business!"

Me thinks the pannicky rumour with eros has spread, but they're based in switzerland and all the info is save there so don't panic  ;D

Yep. their headquarters in US got closed after the raid.

and you;re right, ads now are 57 pounds a month (how come they got so cheaper? They were more pricey before????)

Somehow, someday, I get the feeling that Eros' "Swiss privacy" is going to go the way of Swiss bank account privacy.  Remember when they were a fail safe way to stash your cash?  Haha, then Uncle Sam decided to lean on all those off-shore countries to cooperate and provide the info to the U.S.  That's why you can't open a bank account in so many countries -- no one wants to be bothered with U.S. reporting requirements.  Party's over for U.S. citizens!

Despite the fact that Eros' provides all these assurances, I'm not holding my breath that they won't turn over any of that info to U.S. authorities now or at some point in the future.  Caveat emptor.

It's been 3 weeks since my money for a new ad went out, I assume they have stopped because of their situation/rumours floating around on Twitter etc. I'm trying to get a refund but no luck so far,  there are so many of us with this issue atm.
Anyone has the solution to the Eros issues I would also love to know.

they may have stopped but they keep taking our money!! However.. i don't believe they have stopped because of rumours, maybe they're just overwhelmed? they're not picking up the phone and have this message stating they're too busy dealing with new entries. wtf? how about hiring more people????

From what I've heard they're not accepting non US residents to advertise any longer due to Fosta Sesta thing they've got going on.

But they are accepting ads in europe.,plus the new york section is full of foreign new girls advertising. I'm a fully legal alien here (and my passport proves it) working in the UK (not the US) so don't think that's the case tbh.

Agreed! If they're so inundated with new US advertisers in the wake of sesta and ter/bp issues maybe hire some more staff. The ads are not cheap and their customer service has been almost non existent recently. imo they should not be taking the money if they can't handle the work load. Overwhelmed or not they need to close London until they have the resources and stop taking money until they can process everyone. I'd settle for a refund at this point.

Not sure they're finding it easy to get staff at the moment. The feeling mey be they're on borrowed time, and nobody wants to get caught up in the next Homeland Security raid. I'd bear with them.
I'm a long standing advertiser, and although all they need to do is hit a button to renew my existing ad once payment has gone through, it still takes a couple of days.

Well, I can't seem to get past the 'age statement' page. I too am a long standing advertiser and normally every month I just log on and renew my ad. I make the payment and my ad goes back online within a few hours.

Before, I would just tick both the 'over 18yrs' box and the 'terms and conditions' box and then I can proceed to the payment page. Now, even after ticking both boxes, it doesn't let me go any further.

I am hoping that I don't have to upload my passport, as I don't want to do that. I'm in my thirties and advertise as that age, so age verification is not necessary  (me thinks)

Is anyone else having the same problems or is it just me. I have tried emailing them a few times, but I've yet to hear back. Don't really know what to do now.

I believe you need to upload some form of documentation otherwise it's a no-no for them. I'm surprised you gotten away with not uploading ID as this has been going on for years?. They just want to verify you are over 18, whatever age you say you are in your ad (26, 34 or 40) they don't care. I believe in normal circumnstances you would have called them and ask what to do but because of the crazy stuation they are in now they don;t have a customer service.

An escort in Las Vegas (she's American, on her 30's)  just told me she submitted her ad on the 12 April and is still waiting... ???

Ths is sooo unaceptable..... I mean, if they're happy to take your money quickly they should warn you that your ad is going to take a month. All these touring ladies are getting literally fu-0ked because of Eros.

Yes, in the same situation suddenly. I have let an established ad lapse, and tried to resurrect it for my tour. My money was taken quickly enough, but no ad appeared. My tour is now almost over. Pre-raid they had great customer service.

I would try citizens advice. Give them a call and see what they tell you. Since the BP takedown eros has been taking ladies monies left and right, not posting their ads. Then of course got rid of their customer help line so that ladies could not complaint.

Someone needs to stop them.

Hello neutralIC

Maybe write to them one more time, informing them that you will request a charge-back from your card provider on the grounds of non delivery of service? Ideally, you want your ad back up rather than money returned, unless you have decided to drop them as a listing.

I suspect since the raid they cannot get good staff, and there is one lone grungy flake of a guy logging in once in a while to get keep things ticking over remotely.

I advertise on Eros and was wondering if any of you have found it worth it to verify? They’ve been sent my passport, so personal details aren’t an issue for me. I just haven’t got around to doing the whole taking a selfie holding up a bit of paper malarkey! And won’t bother if it doesn’t make any difference. I pay over £100 per month for my ad, so want to get as much bang for my buck as possible!

yep, your ad will take like 2 months to go up once you verify because they have no staff, there's no customer service at all so good luck if you have a problem. I've heard on twitter of many women having their money "dissapear" after paying and there was no one to complaint. Eros used to be a great place in the past but then it got sold after that HS security raid 3 years ago. I don't know who the owners are but they're doing a shyte job.
