email vs phone calls
« on: 19 September 2008, 03:36:57 am »
its not something im worried about but it seems to me already that i have loads of emails from guys but not phone calls.  i dont know why but i sort of expected guys to call me rather than spend time on email?? is this normal?  Im sure its just because im not advertised in enough places yet but i have that nervous tummy feeling about my new phone and am disappointed when it doesnt ring.  my emails requests dont seem like complete timewasters (a few are, some are really obvious idiots) and im sure some of it is because of the area im in etc but what sites should i be on to get the calls flowing?  i feel like i have built myself up to a place where im scared of my first call but almost have my "script" ready and am disappointed that its all emails im dealing with.  I got to get it over and done with to stop the nerves!!!

any advice about sites to get my profile on would be massively appreciated especially from those in the south west.  and i  have abit of a mission to do this on a budget, so far spent ?22 and really chuffed so to keep the cheap b'stard side of me happy would appreciate the free ad sites or dead cheap ones (where i dont have to comprimise my tarrif).  it feels like i have a point to proove to myself that i dont have ot spend cash to make this work, at first!

have to add i  cant wait till i can get my photos done professionally (and have the guts to do it) and can spend some ? on making my site and pics look great.

I just want the phone to ring.  i feel like the first call will be like when you get that first call from a guy you fancy and you totlally screw it up by mumbling shite... i just want it over and done with!!!

whats the betting i get the call first thing tomorrow before i get a chance to check here and get the advice!!!

I initially started out doing this with minimal outlay but let me tell you, having a profession website and photos makes a huge difference - firstly for your enquiries and secondly you confidence. It doesn't cost a great deal and you should be able to get great results for a few ?100 if that.

i cant wait tilll i have the funds to do a more pro photo and website but bloody rent comes first!!!!!! even chosen my photographer who has made me feel as comfortable as any could (have no idea why im so shy about it, makes me abit annoyed with myself really).

My only god send is that i have looked at lots of sites in my area and see that there are lots of ladies working with amature photos and seem to be doing ok so i wont get paranoid about it.  i think if i put myself on the right sites i can get some business quite quick i just want to know how to get them on the phone rather than on the damn email.

some of the intrest that has been shown i am sure could be genuine but i need that first call out of the way to make me feel likke this is for real and not just a mess around on the internet.

i have a day and a bit off over next day or so and will look at targeting my market better.

I think im just feeling newbie nerves.  i might get someone to do a fake call just to get it out of my system... is it normal to be nervous about the first call rather than the first meeting????  im sure im weird!!!! lol

HI Lexie

Not sure if it will help, but your site as far as i can see this time of morning :-\ just says South West, which is a big area, and say Bristol and Cornwall while both SW are a bit of a distance apart, so is it worth popping in some larger towns near to you and focusing on them a bit more? while still making it clear traveling further afield is not a problem

there is also a site for the southwest, run by Paris, i think its on the where to advertise page, I would also just google escorts <town> and advertise on anywhere that comes up

hope that helps

Some of the most popular directories are free, I'm only on free sites at the moment and my top referrers are: punterlink; escortslist; puntingzone; openadultdirectory; exfactory; eros; e-scorts. That's just hits, it's quite hard to find out where guys found me, but the more attention your site gets the more calls you'll get.

Before you can be listed on those, you'll have to sort out your return links. I don't know how myescortpage works, but I imagine there's an option to provide a banner and link text which people can use to link to your site. You've done that successfully with your banner, but you've used the same option for your adultwork banner and that's not right. If you look, you'll see there's no way of getting to adultwork from your site except by typing in the address from the banner. You should be able to click on the banner and go to the site.

There should be another option for adding a link (you might have to insert the image and then add a link to it). Email me or give me a call if you want some help.

I agree with anjali about stating what town you live in. If you want to reach a wider audience, it's also worth listing the names of towns and regions that you'll visit, since that improves the chances that you'll come up in relevant google searches. Anjali's advice about using google to find sites worth listing on is also good.

And finally a proofreading note: there's no apostrophe in "applies".

Oh, and are some of the emails you're getting on adultwork? Not everyone looks for the link to your site, so they might not realise that your number's online. Set up an automatic reply on AW with your phone number in it and tell them they're welcome to call if they'd like to get hold of you more quickly.

Thanks everyone.  going to spend some time this weekend tweeking the site and getting it advertised properly.

Anika i have no idea what your talking about with links blah blah.  if i have successfully set one up it was a fluke lol.  i may take you up on the offer to call you about that one, I will let you know.

Thanks again all.
