Eek!
« on: 18 June 2009, 01:04:28 pm »

 Hi All,

One of my clients emailed me last night saying he has had a stinging sensation when he urinates, and has had a doctor determine it is urethritis, since seeing me and emailed to let me know. He is waiting to get the results back before leaping to conclusions but has let me know anyway (Results on whether is an STI won't come in for a few weeks, not here in UK). He wasn't blaming or at all saying it was from me in the email so I don't think it is THAT kind of thing going on trying to harass or blackmail etc etc..

I've never had a thing in my life and my most recent check-up (Mid April) came back negative on all counts. I have barely worked since April as I have been very busy with other things and on holiday, but even so am a bit freaked out by it! I'm getting checked out today. I do give OWO and receive oral as well as kiss, and while I am relatively sure I'm in the clear it's still that not knowing...

Advice Please, Reassurance also accepted!!! xxx

Gonorhea and Clamydia can be carried in the throat. Good of him to tell you since it gives you chance to get checked out.

That's the problem with chlamydia and gonorrhea. You could carry either around for ages and not display any symptoms, so you can't pinpoint it. Not in every case but it does happen.

As you say, it's time for a good swabbing. If your GUM clinic's like mine, bring yourself a good book to read whilst you're waiting so it'll keep your mind off things.

Yup, I'm pretty well used to going now:) The GUM was absolutely fine and over extremely quick (think I only waited around for about 5 minutes and was out in an hour). As it is, the gentleman in question sent me a second email saying he thinks he has over reacted and is being a touch hypochondriac-ish but regardless it is one of these things I'd rather get double checked. My last set of results were back in under a week, I was in on a Monday and got them on a Thursday afternoon. I'm not too worried to be honest, I think I was more worried it *would* turn out to be one of these 'see me for free next time or I'll say this' or 'Go see my Doctor for same day results and give him 200?' type of deal in a few warnings.

I can vouch for that. Had gonorrhoea in my throat last year (and managed to infect my first ever client. Nice one Ben! Luckily he was very sweet about it...) without a single symptom. They gave me a pill (literally ONE pill) and it was gone.

Non-specified urethritis! I took a guy I was shagging to the GUM clinic once. They diagnosed him with NSU and said neither of us should have sex with anyone until our tests came back. It was two weeks off work when I was new and eager, but everything came back negative.

Y'all are scaring me with this stuff. Remember last December  :(

Only too vividly. :)

But it's the truth. There are some STIs which displays no symptoms at all and you don't even know you've had it until you've inadvertantly passed it on.
That's why I've never understood these ladies that do bareback on the basis of "you look fine."

Non-specified urethritis!

That's the terminology I was trying to think of! NSU. More common in women than in men because our inside plumbing is that much more compact so more prone to infection.

Hi all,

I was not going to post this - but seeing your honesty i'm gonna go for it.....  :-\

I am thinking of becoming an escort but there is one thing in particular that is on my mind.......I?ve just had a first episode of genital herpes and am concerned that if i do become an escort i could infect people (as condoms/dams don?t necessarily protect against it and you can be potentially infectious all the time ?even if you don?t have sores).  However the GUM clinic did say that many people have it anyway, and it doesn?t do any damage (as such) ? so perhaps i?m worrying over nothing??  Obviously though i don?t want to give it to someone who hasn?t already got it, because i just wouldn?t want to do that ? but also because it obviously wouldn?t be a very good advert -and, as mentioned above if someone got it could they try and blackmail me etc??!!!  But then i can hardly put some disclaimer on an advert warning that i have it as then i wouldn?t get any business (apart from people who already know they have the virus, maybe)!!  Of course I don?t even know yet if sex is going to be a trigger for setting off another episode so maybe all this questioning is a bit academic!!

What are your thoughts???  :-[

Also - how often do you guys normally go for check ups, and do you get tested for everything each time? (does it depend on what services you offer??)

Thank you.  :) xx

And - hope you are ok Evie, it sounds like you should be - but must be scary though

It's not really, I know what I do and I know the risks and have made informed choices and used all caution I feel is right- I've never had a thing in my life and while that doesn't bar future potential dangers, I am used to the procedure of it all :) NSU does and can happen but its also very easily treated as most things are in the end:) I'd be a lot more concerned if the situation called for it xx

And yes the horror stories a nurse-friend of mine told me about some lasses on my campus that give the whole 'but I've never been with anyone Asian so I can't get XYZ because that doesn't happen to people from wherever'  is enough to bring frustration to anyone
