I received this message too, told him to get lost, reported it to AW and blocked.
Yes, I'd risk it for a biscuit, as I said, you know me.

Hi ladies. I am an overly mistrusting person when it comes to this industry. The other day I got a message on AW from a man claiming to be a man doing some "directing marketing" in a one off for this website: http://www.sponsorascholar.co.uk/ I was like "I call bullshit" at first but part of me wants to believe it's not too good to be true.

Essentially what they offer is up to ?15k a year for students with 2-4 sexual meet ups with your sponsor a term (which is like 12 a year...)

Has anyone heard of the SponsorAScholar scheme? Or knows someone who has done it? The issues I have with it from my first look about are 1: You meet someone in a hotel room for the "interview" 2. You have to give out details of ID and show your uni ID and 3. The client pays the company before seeing you then after you've met with them you get the money...

Do you still have the message Kitty? I'm guessing the profile will have been pulled already but the Independent may be interested in any information that can be gleamed!

Hey sorry just logged on and got your message. His profile has been deleted but his username on AW was "Nice_Guy_Eddie" -he had  5 positive feedback but that may not have been legit.

Yesterday, I said:

Hello dear Independent journalists,

.. there's "Causing or inciting prostitution for gain" ..

In today's paper:

Quote
Officers will  seek to establish whether those behind the website could be investigated for a number of possible offences, including incitement into prostitution

.. and ..

Quote
However, it emerged yesterday that a female escort called Kitty had been approached by a man claiming to be from the site seeking to attract new "scholars".

Come on, make that donation...
'The Ian formerly known as SW5'. What they said: "Indispensable", "You are our best resource", and (hours later!) "I'm afraid that you're being made redundant..."

Winding down YourEscortSite.com

I wonder if The Indo are stalking you for stories?!You should at least get a mention in the byline "Accurate facts to be attributed to Ian/XW5".

Also whilst talking about how dangerous it was they failed to mention (and give publicity to) any of the schemes running that make working safer. Like Ugly Mugs etc. etc.

I suppose, "Practical Support for Sex Workers" is a bit less salubrious...

I don't know why the need to create that rubbish website. He only needed to log into AW. It's packed with scholars looking for donations. ;D

Maybe he wouldn't get the thrill of deception from a crappy AW scam? Urgh what kind of creep gets off on exploiting women like that?

In any case the police is investigating into the matter so sooner or later they are going to catch this looser and the charges are not going to be pretty. He might get sued by libel by the uni professor and he will get charged with "inciting to prostitution" and "controlling prostituion for gain". It's not looking good for him. And all because the guy just wanted to get laid for free!

DUDE: You could have saved yourself sooo much trouble by going into AW and paying for the pussy. But you wanted to save the money and look into the mess you got yourself into.

On the other hand this fool doesn't strike me as some guy with "big pimp dreams" looking forward to create some sort of "whoring enterprise" by introducing  students to wealthy men. Sounds more like another looser living in a basement with too much time infront of the computer wanting to "test the goods for free" before I er..." introduce you to "Mr Wealthy suggar daddy" (who obviously doesn't exist). And he proves to be a total idiot because a) How cum u think you're going to get away with creating such a website hoping journos are not going to find it? and b) How come you go into AW  (the biggest sex for pay website)  trying to lure WG's into free sex with some bullshit excuse?

Some people have no brains. Hope the plod grabs him.

Channel 4 news did a bit about this story this evening (well, yesterday now!). One of the ladies who had been scammed gave an anonymous interview. She went back to his with him and she said he got her to model lots of outfits in sexy poses and then moved on to 'the practical' assessment. She received a call shortly afterwards to tell her she didn't 'pass the interview' and to try again in a couple of months. Feel so sorry for her  :'(. Hope the rotten scumbag gets caught.

Unfortunately because of the stigma attached to escorting this kind of scam would've possibly appealed to those who thought escorting was maybe a step too far/beneath them, the way some girls think going on a sugar daddy site is better than being an escort etc, when in reality escorting would no doubt be the better and most straight forward way of going about things!

This confirms my above post. And if this is the case: no financial gain from controlling prostitution just "a sad guy lying through his teeth" in order to get laid I'm afraid  he's committed no crime (from the legal point of view). I don't think this can constitute a "sexual offence" as the victim was over 18 years of age and agreeded to a sex act. But it might fall in the cathegory of "fraud" (?): A false representation of a matter of fact?whether by words or by conduct, by false or misleading allegations, or by concealment of what should have been disclosed?that deceives and is intended to deceive another so that the individual will act upon it to her or his legal injury. Would be interesting to know the charges once the plod gets hold of him.

Very true.

Was flicking through the Indo when I saw this and remembered this thread.Yup it would seem like a total scam and the guy behind it now has his face plastered all over the papers.
Muhahaha, what an asshole, I'mdelighted!
Oh my God, look at his smug face! I do indeed hope he's enjoying his little moment of fame there.
Con artists' sense of superiority [until they get caught] is literally the most nauseating thing.

Ah,

DS Alan Clark, who is leading the inquiry, urged anyone who had made contact through the website to get in touch with police.

?If anyone has information in relation to the man shown in the film or the photographs or on the website itself, please contact us on 0800 783 2589 and we will get back to you in strict confidence,? he said.

I think whoever in this forum got in touch with this tosser should  call the number. Problem is revealing our occupation  ??? I'm not sure if the po-po would be OK with that or if the "disclosed information with personal details" will be used against you at some point. I don't trust the coppers.
