Working in the US as an independent?
« on: 13 May 2012, 10:38:41 pm »
Hi girls,

I was wondering if anyone could offer advice on working in the US?

My day job might take me to US for 3 months soon, and I'd love to keep on escorting whilst there. I've now been working part-time alongside having a full-time day job for almost a year, and it's been great. Does anyone have any insight into what the market is like there, or any advice on where to advertise if you want to work as an indie? Or if it'd be better to try and work for an agency? I usually only see one or two clients a week, and don't think I'd have time for much more than that in the US either... I also know it's illegal there, which makes me a bit worried too   :-\

Any advice or thoughts on this would be much appreciated!

Thank you x

If you want to be able to go back to the US then I wouldn't risk it.
I'm glad I got all the Cynthia Payne books before the prices rocked to sky high.

As said, it's illegal work there and the repercussions could be pretty severe. I always find it's a good idea to think about the worst possible outcome of something - could you live with that? If yes, it might be an acceptable risk. If not, likely best not to take that risk.

There are, obviously, a couple zillion prostitutes working in the US despite these extra risks. From what I can gather, the most important things are A) knowing how to vet clients so that you can make sure you don't meet any policemen, and B) knowing where to advertise to get good clients.

Both of those questions can either be answered by US-based escorts here, or by researching US-based forums. To save time, if I were you, I'd just hit every single possible US-based prossie-related website and read *everything*. Probably twice, since that always helps when planning a massive endeavour like either starting escorting for the first time or doing it in a new country for the first time.

There are bunches of US escort blogs around if you search for those, too; try Googling "Jenny di (de?) Milo" for starters. I'm not saying she's the CEO of American Sex Work or anything, but she has written quite openly in past posts about how to work sensibly in the States. If you read as many different people's stuff as you can you should get quite a well-rounded idea of what others are up to, then you can start to weigh things up in your own mind and make your decisions.

This website is really really funny. It's runned by WG's and it's called "The Timewaster". You might want to read it and have a laugh. Also: It gives you some pointers on how American escorts work and scan their clients.

Thanks for the advice and links - very, very helpful!

Eek... that would be something like being prosecuted and evicted from the country, not being able to finish my work project and having to explain to my boss - who is a bit of a creepy perv - that I was working illegally as a prossie. Followed possibly by being fired (though there is someone very senior in my company who had a career break in the 90s working in the sex industry and he's perfectly accepted!)

I could also give the whole sugar daddy dating thing a go while in the US - my impression (which could be totally wrong) is that is more widespread there?

SD dating is a much bigger thing in the US than here according to my American clients

You can work there but it's risky.  You need a reference from every guy, plus loads of other details.  You can use 'preferred411' to help screening.

Personally I would go agency for a while until I find my feet and get to meet some other girls to trade clients with and get used to the screening procedures.  It's very much in the agencies best interest not to get busted by police as they would struggle getting any girls to work for them again

Be aware that requests for BB are quite widespread  :-X :-X

On the plus side, rates are high in places like NYC

Sounds very scary indeed! A real shame though, I would have loved a working holiday in the States, but I am just too much of a scaredy cat with regards to the 'working' part!
