Lol, most guys who accept a drink from me take a sip, put it down, then forget about it until the end of the booking. The one's who really want a drink always will always bring their own bottle, anyway.

I don't think there's any 'wrong' way to give out free drinks. I'm just cautious :D

I'd never give a client any drink apart from a glass of water, or tea/coffee.

Alcohol is a no no. I won't accept anyone who has been drinking either.

Yeah I don't offer alcohol either. I offer soft drinks but most just want water x

I think it is nice of you to go to the trouble of buying wine for clients, and therefore being able to offer them a choice of an alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink  :)

The guy that made the silly comment was probably joking in my opinion, in a sort of "got some catching up to do have I?" silly way. But it was rude of him to say that, as others have said he's welcome to either bring a fresh bottle or to just say no to the offer.

You said in your first post that you were worried that having an open bottle of wine around might make you look like a heavy drinker. Please don't worry about that because you are just being nice, and you're clearly not a lush so who cares anyway! But if it bothers you, what you could do is buy some wine bottle stoppers (I got 4 for 99p from my local Sainsbury's). They're just nice looking reuseable plastic plugs for opened wine bottles, with a little lever on the side that you pop down to keep the air in and the wine fresh. If you pop one of those in, and leave the bottle on the side with a clean wine glass next to it, it gives the impression that you have a glass of wine waiting for the client, as opposed to just having half empty booze bottles hanging round the house. If that's what you're worried about  :)

I think it's simply that he thinks you're a drinker. I've often had a few in the past when I've worked and I don't have the bottle in sight (haha, that'll be the guilt because I was having a couple) so yes I think what you're doings fine, but get it off the bedside cabinet!

No its not cheeky. Does he expect you to crack a new bottle just for him to have one glass?

If he is that bothered he could bring a bottle, most who do want a little drink with you have the manners to do this without even being asked let alone bitch because the bottle was already open. Was he worried you were going to drug him lol

I offer a variety of fruit juice or water. Wine yes (but hey I love it!) but only for bookings after 6pm and only for 1hr+ bookings. Anyway my evening clients mostly bring me wine.

It's easy since the kitchen is actually on the way to the room, it's a big flat so I can ask them when I lead them in and they see me pour their drink.

I make sure the water bottle is new (safety issues) and same for the wine. But again those who want wine mostly bring it. Otherwise I always have a bottle and pour them a glass, nice fresh white and half glass for myself. Some will drink the entire glass some will just have a bit but with me being French they all appreciate it and it's one of the things they expect, along with my accent lol.

Yes wine must be opened in front of your host mostly unless it's red and you want to put it into "carafe" to breathe a bit but hey that would be a really good wine lol!

I think your client was probably joking. Now as to cash just leave the client for a second and go stash it somewhere else, easy to find a hiding place, I can pm a few ideas if you want?
