Clients booking and showing up short on fee
« on: 13 November 2024, 08:50:53 pm »
This week two regulars have booked me and asked for 2 hour slots, but one turned up £30 short and the other client was £60 short. Both used the excuse that the cash machine wouldn't give out full amount of funds. Very annoying, not had this before. Why they don't just book what they can afford. I only gave them the time they could afford, i wasn't going to give them free time.

Both nice clients but still annoyed me, Anyone else had this before?

That's disgusting behaviour and totally trying it on.
Don't blame you for only giving them the time they've actually paid for.
Such entitlement, many people are struggling but that doesn't mean that they should expect you to give  time for free.
I had a regular who always used to book an hour but then even though he still booked the hour started saying he could only stay for 45 mins when he arrived and paid the 45 min rate.
This happened 2 or 3 times so the next time he wanted to book I texted back 45 mins? He said yes please and we both know where we stand now.
At least he didn't sneakily try to underpay me though.

I know right, and we have to organise our day and then end up missing out on a booking. Not only is it also awkward to having to negotiate before a booking on how much time they can have.its unusual, but maybe its because they are low on funds. But I don't get to pay less at the checkout because I'm short.

I had this last night when a punter turned up £20 short for a two hour booking. He didn't say anything until I counted it and pointed out it wasn't enough, and as pleasant as he was I couldn't shake the feeling that he was hoping I wouldn't spot it, or if I did I would just let it go ::).

I made sure he paid the rest by bank transfer before we started, but it makes for an atmosphere and spoils the booking. Even if it was a genuine mistake I can't say I'm in a rush to see him again now.

I find it hard to believe it's a genuine mistake. They probably just think we are dim.

I agree, it's a mood killer. Puts me off giving them my best

Did have it happen he seemed genuine and a regular and it was an honest mistake paid me the missing £20 next time.

But normally no fee no play, you can tell by their reaction if it is a mistake or as most are trying it on.

I have had so many of those recently. Regulars shortchanging me £20 or even £40. I get that mistakes happen but they never happen to my benefit 🥲

Had this yesterday.  Regular client but a pain in the butt.  Always trying to haggle and constant texting but once he's here he's a 2 stroke joe so easy.  Counted his money once I'd walked out the room and was £40 short, he knew instantly and as I walked back in the room he pulled it out of his pocket muttering that it got caught up in his keys.  Did it hell!  Cheeky fecker!  Regular or not they don't give a toss.

Which is why taking payment upfront and checking is so important. If it's short I can adjust or refuse, but it is annoying. I have even had clients in identifiable professions who tell me privacy, discretion is important to them be short whether by accident or not I do not know. Cash machines locally are now limited due to bank closures and remaining independent machines often out of order, I warn most of my clients and newbies advise them to get cash before they travel or enroute - do not leave it until arrival in the area.
