Yes, I get a lot of my bookings through texts.. You can tell as much from a text about a person as you can from a 5 minute phone-call..
And like Green Carnation, I'm not too keen on phoning!!!
I wouldn't say I've got a phobia, but I do hate it, in normal life, and also when I'm working..
So I actually prefer texts

As others do, I'll always respond to a polite, sensible initial enquiry via text, but ask them to call if they want to book (and put my website URL in the reply too, unless they say they've already looked at my site).

I respond to clear concise non-timewastery texts and often accept bookings through text alone is they sound like normal human beings from their writing style. I very rarely get blowouts or timewasters through texts which is why I have no problem with them.

I know what you mean. Worked in a call centre once & it made me ill with anxiety. I was funny with phone calls for years afterwards. I'm OK now though but if I'm having an off day I'll avoid the phone.

I have a few deaf punters including regulars, and all can manage a quick phone call. Most people with hearing loss are like me, where it's either gradual in both ears or one side doesn't work at all but the other is manageable depending on the surroundings, and all have emailed and explained. Many use hearing aids, although I don't so can only answer the phone on my left side.

The 'I'm deaf so can't call' texts over the years have all been timewaster types with no further enquiry about when they want a booking or how long for. Relatively few people are so completely and profoundly deaf that they can't use the phone at all, although of course there will be some. I can't see anybody I can't direct to my door over the phone, so I would explain that and apologise for not being able to see them.

I suppose I could send a friend out to get them if there were really exceptional circumstances, but I can't imagine what those would be. I certainly wouldn't go myself.

Yes, this is what I suspected, I do currently have an enquirer who is texting asking questions, who says he cannot phone because he is deaf (made similar enquiry few weeks ago). I have explained that he can email with all his questions if he wishes, and I'll answer in full............but nothing yet!

I know that for some reason I am way more assertive and confident by text or email ,so if i dont like the sound of someone I can decline to see them with ease,whereas I would really struggle to say no on the phone!! For this reason I dont actually take any calls,unless prearranged with good reason

Have had an increase lately in testers. I've found the ones who text something like this "Hi, would you be available for a one hour appointment at 6pm? John" to be ok and actually turn up. The ones who text "R u 3" are texted back and told to call.

I've had another who started off asking a few questions, said he couldn't phone because it was inconvenient and indiscrete, will phone soon, more questions, asks if I'll see his black friend, just one more question, oh I'm hard of hearing won't be phoning can we carry on texting, will I see his friend and can he watch.

As long as they are well written, yes - I use the same screening process I would for emails or calls. I usually ask for a phone call to confirm, though, as I like to know they can string a sentence together. I've had several guys whom sounded like native English speakers calling me and seeming as though moving their mouth to speak was too much effort. Denied!
I did once get a text asking if I see a lot of clients every day, and if we'd be alone at my incall flat - in my head, this translated to 'do you have a lot of cash I can steal' so blocked him!!

I work from home so l only respond to texts from regulars but otherwise prefer calls. But l hate r u free texts with a passion

It says on my profile I'm happy to respond to polite texts. Texts such as "You working?" or "You feeling horny?" are ignored. I have a lot of guys tell me its hard for them to make a call sometimes (if maybe they are at work) but easier to text.I have to speak to them before a booking though to ensure they pass my screening process.
