im thinking to charge a deposit for longer duraiton bookings or for home outcalls that are a bit far from me. How to receive money from a client without him knowing my personal details? how about creating a paypal account with a fake name and assuming that paypal won't make me verify my details? and bank account or deposit, as far as i know, client can see the full name i guess.

At the moment the sender of a transfer can't see the name, rules coming in shortly will mean senders will receive a warning if the name they enter in the account name box (which can be anything you wish) doesn't match with the name on the account BUT as far as I'm aware the actual name isn't revealed.

You can test this by sending a transfer yourself to one of your other bank accounts, or a friend.

I'd set up with IndieBill if you're worried. They take 5% transaction fee I think. Or get him to send him via Amazon voucher. I seem to spend at least 500£ there per month

Had a quick look at IndieBill. It’s an adult platform right? Would that maybe not scare guys off wanting to have that on their card bills? How does it work?

I can't remember the exact name that appears on the card statement, but it's something very innocuous like "BlueSky" and if you google that name there is no association with IndieBill.

EDIT It seems like this might have changed. I've contacted IndieBill for clarification and will update this post when they respond.

In the meantime I'd suggest sticking to Amazon vouchers if they're not cool with bank transfer.

Apple ITunes voucher (purchasable in cash at supermarkets in their gift card section/aisle) and they send a picture of code from it over to you.

mobile phone top up voucher (purchasable at ANY corner shop, petrol station, supermarket or online). They send you the code on it.

Or like VC said. Amazon online vouchers and connect a non personal email address to that amazon account you ask them to send voucher to.

Regs that cancel more than once in a row I’m thinking to now ask deposit too. Because they’re taking the Micky out of my schedule and disrespecting my own time as less important than theirs which is annoying.

We are the commodity at the end of the day. Someone keen to meet you who IS genuine and can see you have a paper trail of (positive) feedback WILL make the effort.

I offer a few anonymous painless ways they can send deposits so there’s an option that fits for everyone.

me too can pay by card or by cash. there is no reason they won t.
some they do not for principle. which happens...but they are a minority. many they do understand. now even restaurant ask for a deposit. it is ridiculous low amount. at least pay my time to get ready or my admi job to schedule an appoint.
i think that it is nice way to screen too. now many of us do, it is becoming common. honestly happy about it! Some do not respect our time. xx

It seems that more people are requiring deposits which is great as it will become more the norm than not all going well.
