Do you keep any self defence items?
« on: 05 April 2019, 02:18:13 pm »
Every time I read about an abusive or dangerous client, I keep thinking about what I'd do in any bad situation.

Does anyone have with them any items specifically for self defence/protection?
I'm thinking like an alarm or spray? I'm not sure what's legal, or what is available to purchase so wanted to know if anyone has any info or ideas?

Thanks!

Just be careful as anything you keep can be used on you.
I'm glad I got all the Cynthia Payne books before the prices rocked to sky high.

Yes, I didn’t think of that actually.

Maybe an alarm is the best bet.

When I'm in a hotel I make sure the ice bucket is full & nearby, so I can swing at them if necessary. You can bop them over the head with the hotel phone, also I've always thought a stiletto to the eye, ear or throat would slow a guy down long enough for me to escape.

At home my grandfathers glass ashtray is always close by, it's over 100 years old, small but very heavy.

Yes, anything can & could be used against me, but I'm willing to bet once I start fighting back they'll run 🏃. I hope.

iv'e never had to use it but i could swear by it. i have this pepper spray bracelet it is better than a traditional pepper spray as you can wear it as a bracelet and it is discreet. Google little viper pepper spray however bc it is an american made product it can't be shipped internationally you need someone flying from america to uk to bring it to you in their checked in luggage.
why have cotton when you can have silk???

Rape alarm and/or hairspray both good. Be as confident as possible with punters.

Pepper spray/CS gas are both illegal in the UK and are classed as firearms. If the police catch you with it you will be looking at a custodial sentence, even if you are using it in self defence.

I do have a couple of items that I carry with me, they do make me feel a lot safer.  Someone gave me a good bit of advice though and that was to get one of those jif lemons, easy to put in a pocket and one squirt in someone's eyes would soon disable them.

I dont know if I'm allowed to post the link, but if you type in jif lemon juice into Amazon, you will get some products, look for the one that actually looks like a lemon.  You can get them in supermarkets too in the bakery isle.

In the UK an essential bakery item, often used on Shrove Tuesday.

Concentrated lemon juice in a squeezy plastic lemon, also available in glass bottles.

Look in bakery section of supermarket.
