Do you have a dog in your work flat?
« on: 05 December 2015, 01:48:09 pm »
I am considering getting a canine companion for my work flat and would be interested to hear from ladies who work from a separate work flat and have a dog for company.

I would like to have a dog purely for company as I will be on my own. I have 3 cats in my own home but with a dog he can travel with me and perhaps save my sanity whilst encouraging me to take a break sometimes and go out for a walk.

I'm not really bothered what clients think as the dog will be in a separate room when I take bookings.

I've thought of this many times, like loads and loads of times but my mum and dad think it's cruel working full time and leaving the dog in the house. They are of course correct, they don't know I am an escort so don't realise that actually I am in the best position to have a dog.

Having said that, dogs live for up to 15 years and I obviously don't plan on doing this as long as that so there will come a time where I will be out of the house most of the time.

I don't have a separate work flat, I just work from home.

I have the most amazing dog ever at my parents house who I just adore, when ever I'm home (I stay overnight), the dog doesn't leave my side EVER, even when I pee.....she sits and watches patiently giving me a paw! Wee soul that she is so I often think I would like cuddles and affection like that all the time but I have to look at the bigger picture into the future in the sense where I have to think of any potential pets when I am no longer working from home, it wouldn't be fair on them because they need company and affection too.

Ahhhh but a way to get round having a lonely pet (when your out at work) is to buy 2 puppies instead of one and raise them together 🐶

I personally find smaller dogs to be more independent than bigger dogs, I've had both so a smaller dog would be better for you to leave alone when your with a client and also I bigger dog might put your clients off x

I have two small dogs the problems I have found is they don't like being locked in the lounge when I'm busy in the bedroom usually a 30 minute booking is fine and the longest I can leave them is 1 hour before they bark the place down. I have to plan my in calls around their walks as they are exercised at the same time everyday to give them a sense of routine, they get clingy when I start getting dressed in my work gear and they are expensive to board when I go on holiday.

I have a dog who doesn't like men and when they come for incalls, I can hear him howling and crying downstairs at what these men are doing to me haha. It's bloody cringe worthy. I even get him a bone every time and he is well walked! Don't do it haha if they love you, men coming in and out will freak them out.

I babysit a dog that is basically a cat in nature. Dailey hooving and flow of strangers to desensatise them so they won't bark does the job.

It's when the usually good natured dogs start growling quietly at certain men that you need to start worrying. Dogs have a sixth sense I reckon.

I know a dog that barks at folk with beards and dark skinned folk. It's just a case of folk they're not used to seeing on the dailey but oh my God it takes some explaining that your dog isnt actually racist or against men lol

I ofen take one of my dogs with me especially if im going back late at night as he is a excellent guard dog and well trained

If you get a dog pick one that fits in with your lifestyle  not because it a certain type or look

So if your a lazy f.... Don't get a crazy spaniel or working dog that needs loads of  exercise and structure otherwise they will rip your house apart from boredom

Big dogs ( like mine ) are generally lazy I can get away with 15 mins in the morning afternoon and night they are chilling the rest of the time

Despite the bad press they get Staffies are lovely if you get the right one excellent guard dogs , small enough to take everywhere and lazy and chilled enough to not need massive amounts of exercise

Also just about the worse thing you can do with a dog is be with it all the time because it creats separation anxiety which means when you leave it it will howl bark and be stressed start as you mean to go on and leave on its own from the start for a  short time gradually getting longer each day .

If your getting an older dig get one over the age of 3/4 because at that age the dog you see will be the dog you get at 3 + they are mature so any issues like separation anxiety / dog aggression will either be present or it wont

Factor in stuff like kennals as well im going away in January for three weeks and have to put 3 of my dogs in kennels that costing me ?850 and that with a discount as I use them a lot

And don't forget insurance last year my dog OY swallowed a bloody toy and needed a massive op that cost ?2500 and my insurance for my dogs is huge as they are KC reg and big dogs
My other dog needed a bloody eye operation ( think like Botox but for dogs that was ?1000
And my other dog has medicated shampoo that cost ?60 a month

They are more expensive than bloody kids but worth it

My dog has cost me thousands also but he is the best companion I have ever had. I haven't had depression or felt lonely since I got my dog. They just love you in a pure way.

I am a dog owner too, and try and take my dog with me where ever I go.

She's quiet, doesn't bark, only at the door bell. I don't know what I would do with out her, and she lets me spoon her at bed time too :-)

When you say getting a dog for you work flat, I am assuming you would be taking the dog home with you too? having 3 cats might make it difficult to get a dog to get along with them, but some dogs are okay with cats, just be careful.

Do you mind me asking what breed you have? X
