In my experience that's probably too much information too soon. Each to their own system.

A side side issue is giving out the number before seeing him in the wild doesn't leave you much wiggle room if a robber duo or gang targets you. Gormless clients is probably the least of the risks.

All techniques have pros and cons  :)
I’d never considered robbers or gangs  :o.
I’ve only had one look and go and another not turn up once I gave him the room number. I left straight away after that as it was the end of the day for me anyway.

Kiss: 15 minutes seems achievable if I’m super organised. It’s just trying to find a polite way to kick
Someone out 😂

I normally tell them when they say they’ve parked.
Knowing my luck, if I let them pass the hallways they make such a show of it and be indiscreet  ;D

A lot of punters parked, got door number and directions then either got lost, got nerves or were not there at all.

Until I brought in deposit system I always sighted to give door number and directions.

Hi Pink,

I don't really understand your question. Do you mean how do I manage my appointments?

I book them in for a specific time then they have to confirm at a time I tell them. I get no 'no shows' because of the way I run my system. Timewasters don't confirm appointments.

I also screen very strictly.

Hope that's answered your question.

I was just looking to see how other people schedule their bookings and their systems. I do ask everyone to confirm by 9am( no matter what time their appointment is). But i still get people not turning up, even after confirming.
I am trying deposits but it’s mixed results.

Thank you for sharing your method.

9.00 is too early Pink. This is why they don't bother turning up.

9am is no good.

You need to be specific with them.  That's why they're not turning up.

Also, if clients want to book me in advance (as in the day before or whatever) they must pay a deposit.

If somebody is just a bad person and wants to do fake bookings to mess you around even if they confirm they can still mess you up i have had it when they pretend to be outside and do not come in but i would say a lot of the ones that do confirm later on are more reliable as some that would not take the time to confirm and ring round loads booking would not bother to cancel. So the comfirmation say if they book for 3pm and call you at 11am then get them to confirm at say 1.30pm or 2pm if you want.

A lot will double book now days if 2 want a similar time because so many cancel or are unreliable and you turned someone else down.

Salty Sweet/KBP:
I say 9am as I can respond before bookings. Particularly with first timers, they freaked out if I didn’t respond quickly( normally as I was with another client). If I don’t hear from them, I’ll send a text at 9.30 to double check. Very few have confirmed and not shown up.
How do you do confirmations in between seeing clients?

I’ve changed my advert to say advanced bookings need a deposit but on the day don’t.

English Green; I think double booking is now becoming an issue. I always assume that when someone books then cancels quickly.

My confirmation time is a time earlier than 9am, it started at 10am but people were not telling me they weren't coming and I had guys on standbywho would need to know before 9am to plan their travel or day. Also some bookings are for 9am, 10am, 10.30am so confirm became a time before 9am or 2 hours prior which ever is the earliest.

Main issue is those who forget to confirm and this happens even after paying a significant deposit, I do send the confirm time by text or email when acknowledging receipt of the deposit. So they have it, and explain if I do not receive the confirm I may assume booking is off, deposit lost.

I was using pinks chosen  time of confirmation as reference...it's the gap between confirm and booking that's the actual issue.

Compounded by the fact she doesn't consistently ask for deposits .

I agree confirming 12 hours ahead isn't so problematic if the client pays a deposit. As deposits scare off most of the chaff. That's why your system works so well.

Your then left with the muddleheads.

Pink from what you say 'most turn up'. That's a good thing then and your system works well...it seemed a bigger problem in your original post

I explain that if I don't pick up it's because I'm doing other things and will get back to them. No sweat!

I moved the 10am confirmation to 9am years before I used deposits, because of the ones who didn't let me know and the ones who wanted the booking. I kept that time when I started deposits then moved to even earlier because of something I started doing between 8.30am-9am most days, and quite a few punters/clients were already confirming early.  Some are in workplaces or on the road at 8 or 9am Also I like to know what I'm doing with my day, waiting until 10am was losing me other booking or other activity opportunities. Also I might be in a booking or other activity 9am/10am particularly if on tour (if touring I'm often on a course 9am-5pm, or on the train on the way). 7am-9am is a time I'm not usually in a booking, and with my phone turned on and my phone is usually quiet at that time. On the rare occasion I've a booking the  day after an overnight I advise the confirmer I won't be able to respond until x-time or have phone on silent / find a moment to check phone without it interrupting the booking.
