I was impressed by Backpage... they emailed me to say they'd created a profile and if I wanted to try it for free for a certain length of time... go ahead and approve it. I looked at it, and it was fine (they'd basically lifted my profile from another directory.) I liked that they asked me to approve it and they offered me a free trial.

Within half an hour of approving it, I had a paying client! I have made money off of it and I will be re-subscribing unless it turns out to be ridiculously expensive.

That, I think, is an acceptable way to get our custom. I understand that Backpage is a good, known site and they have decent customer service. I tend to get calls from travelling American businessmen.
