Unless I am on tour I only accept evening bookings in advance.

Not really to do with the type of client, more to do with me wanting to chill and not be on call.

Most of my work is 12-7pm. I'd agree with Nia that perhaps younger clients tend to go more for the evening. Regardless of age, I definitely get more timewasters and no shows past 6pm.

I don't think there's a safe time...only unsafe clients.
And there's good and poor screening.

Defiantly no safe time of day to do our job.

So when your screening u always go with
your gut instincts and the vibe about that caller.

But what else can you do to screen them
properly x

Layla, if you type 'screening' into the Search box you'll see that this has been discussed a couple of times already - I got sixteen pages of results. Here are a few to get you started :):

I was offering day and night bookings but now I'm strictly nighttime bookings (9PM-9AM) as it works easiest with my lifestyle outside work and the clients are so much nicer than the daytime clients I used to frequent. I always preferred working nights but was trying to work days to be more part of daytime life, daytime life sucks and I'm more than happy to be an almost-vampire. It took some prodding from my husband to stop being something I'm not but I'm now so much happier that I work late nights and get to sleep in haha.

Time of day really doesn't effect whether you'll get an angel or a devil though, if an arsehole wants to book then they will whether it's 3AM or 5PM, screening is the only way to go and is your number one ally in this job, that and gut instinct but it's all connected.

Working times depend on whether I am on tour or not.
When not on tour I am the laziest ho, 10-8pm, especially in the winter months. I hate the cold and my body want to sleep after 4pm.
On tour, I am available 24hrs. I will sleep with the phone near me and can go from zero to ho in 15mins flat. This is showered and make up. Usually not full face, just eyes and lips.
Day clients tend to be business men on lunch breaks or between meetings. I have had drunk or coked to the gills all hours of the day and night, and some rocking up at 8:30 on a Wednesday morning with bags of drugs. I was tempted to ask how things got to the point where his choices on a midweek morning were between hooker and coke or coffee and croissants. But I didn't.  ::)

I agree there really is no safe time. That being said, all the crazies seem to come out at night, at least in my area. I prefer day clients.

Plus, when I work evenings, no matter how boldly and blatantly I specify in my ad that I DON'T do car meets, I get at least twenty people asking me if I can meet them in their car. Since it's 'after dark'.

Oh, and people tend to drink in the evenings, and that always brings out some fun clients.

Ohmygosh, Violette, not to threadjack, but how do you manage clients at all hours on the road?  I try to keep it semi-normal last call before 11pm so as not to be too obvious to mgmt...  Would love to know

Judy, if you click on the little envelope below somebody's name you can send them a private message - that way you can ask them what you want without worrying about threadjacking anything :).
