Asked to attend a music festival

I've been asked by client to attend a music festival next month with him for the weekend.  Only met him once a few weeks ago and seemed human.  It's not a massive one and he said we can stay in a hotel rather than the camp site.  Would appreciate your views or if anyone's had similar experience on this?

Although he seems ok, personally I'd be very careful about this. How long has he asked for? I once had a booking and then the client wanted to take me for a drink straight after "just as friends". I think it was his way of trying for a freebie.

That sounds cool, i would only do a festival with regulars though, please be careful about being spiked etc.

I would also be finding out what kind of festival it was, it may be something that bores you ridgeless.  Its bad enough doing a booking that you don't know that well for very long but for two days it gets even harder.

Once you have established this you can start thinking about other things like costings etc.

As it is a two day booking he will be paying for I don't think there is any chance that he will be looking for any "freebies".

I'd also be negotiating some free time, even if just an hour each afternoon to read/call mum/rant to yourself/eat a curly wurly or whatever.

ask him if he can pay (upfront) 2 days booking....

i might just misread but when clients ask a theathre or a festival they just want company and not sex? they willing to pay your ticket or hotel etc but take it as fun and no mention about fee?
one of my friend went to jackson thriller last year with a nice client and she had a good time! :) taxi ticket food were paid by client of course but no other fee.  client was not pushy there was no expectation of sex it was discussed beforehand. both had a very good time. so its possible if u r clear what r the boundaries.
i would say if u like the type of music and wanna have a mini holiday just go :)

If i wanted to go to a festival or music event i would rather pay for myself than feel beholden to be with a client or anyone in fact  Even if he dont want sex or a booking type of appointment  I would still feel that i couldn't just be myself and relax 100 percent
 I earn enough more than enough to pay for my own taxi ticket food hotel act So if i went i would be going on my own or with my friends not a client unless i considered him to be someone that i knew really really well and i think i can count that sort of client on both hands 
Saying that though I'm not a festival sort of person -   fields mud portable toilets sleeping bags tents no electricity  and cow shit do not appeal to me in the slightest I did Glastonbury once and never ever again

A lot of the acts are not what I would normally see but it's a nice day out and I love a good festival.  This is a small one in the south which sounds good with an excellent evening DJ set.  He didn't mention sex, just company for the day event and stay the night (I've asked to clarify where exactly (hotel? tent?) and he hasn't got back to me) and as it's my time he's asking for I was going to ask for a reduced social weekend rate.

I could to pay for my ticket.  I was going to pay for my own food and drinks as I wouldn't want to grab stuff only when he wanted to.  Guys ALWAYS get the wrong impression when they pay for everything so, if it goes ahead, I will pay for stuff just like in a regular "mates" situation.

I'll have to think it over as it could be more hassle than its worth.  Maybe if it was a client I had seen a few times and got to know a bit more about there personality it would be different.
