Coty, if you're talking about the Mates condoms called Skyns (black/gold wrapper), and you don't want them but don't mind hanging onto them for a few weeks I'll happily buy them off you when I'm next in London. PM me  :).

Arrrggghh! Nooooo that's what I meant to buy!!!!! I'd heard about it on here. Damn I bought the wrong ones! These are SKINS. Never go in without a skin!

GRRRR

Er, rants over. But dealing with a split condom can be a pain not just in terms of the health risks but also the annoying and outdated attitudes some clients can still have about sexual health - don't let them try to put the entire onus of discovering whether or not either of you may have transmitted anything onto you, if you don't want to! It's harder for newbies, probably, and unfortunately condom splits are more likely the less practice you've had, but do feel free to remind everyone involved that you're all adults and therefore all responsible for only your own health. :)

LOL... You sound more angry than I am! Mind you I do feel responsible seeing as I supplied it and I put it on.
got an appointment at 2.30...what a PITA...and it's pissing down too! grrr.

2 friends of mine used Skins and condom split - one now has a 6 month old baby  :o
The 2nd also fell pregnant but had a miscarriage.

They aren't working girls, but say they would never use Skins again and both wrote to the company, not only did the condoms break that lead to their pregnancies, also additional ones used for oral, and one during intercourse but before climax.

They also said they thought maybe it was just a bad batch, and having never used them myself I can't say to avoid but I would be inclined NOT to use them.

B x

Oh dear Lord me....that doesn't inspire me with confidence to use them again. Don't feel I should sell them on ebay either if they're that bad. Well that was a waste of money! Will stick with the freebies from the GUM clinic!

I love the condoms they give at the GUM clinic, I always get that brand they use at mine (and I think most others) passante. I got some warming, cooling and glow in the dark ones last time. Couldn't wait to try out the glow in the dark ones, had a lot of giggles with a good regular over those ones! Would be funny to use them on a rude client and say they're special condoms that glow if they detect an STI (I wouldn't really)! The only accidents I've ever had have been with durex. X

Oh a side note...after coming out the GUM clinic today, there was a phone box directly opposite the doors and it had an advert for the drink Oasis on it. It had a pic of a ham sandwich and a bottle of Oasis. The ad said...Wham bam, thank you ham......and at the bottom......I'll go with anything!
Now don't tell me that was a coincidence! Cracked me up!

i personally love mates skyns now....i have totally dropped durex from my usage as i found they dont roll down easily at all they are also really small ....i didnt have a splitting problem with durex only that they were so useless in rolling that i'd give up and get another brand....

the condom with lube on before and after works for me

also, just an aside, i was gonna check it out myself, but a client came with some condoms he got from germany, they are from a company that makes condoms in different sizes, like via actual measurements of the cock size, which i thought was pretty cool, as the client had a very small cock and normal condoms didnt work for him, so he got them basically custom sized for him

:)

I use a diaphragm for extra protection. It protects against a couple of STIs, far fewer than condoms, but it's better than nothing and is used with spermicide* so no babies too. I can't go on the pill for medical reasons, but if I could I'd probably be on that as well.

*you can buy it on the internet without prescription, as well as from Boots. Gygel is the brand the NHS hands out, and is the only brand I know of that's on sale in the UK.

Hooray if it helps you, but there are two things that would make me hesitate before recommending 'double Dutch' (condoms + diaphragm) to anyone.

In order of importance, spermicide is nasty stuff (the most common chemical used was originally invented as an industrial cleaner!) Some people are very sensitive to it, but it doesn't do anyone's skin much good, and this means it can actually increase the chance of getting an infection. It also tastes foul, so if you're receiving oral, you need to make sure there's none anywhere near their tongue.

Secondly, it's possible for the man to feel it's there. Some may not be too keen about that, as it can be not entirely pleasant (especially if the metal spring is involved).

You could ask about cervical caps which are smaller and don't require spermicide. They're not always easy to get though.
'The Ian formerly known as SW5'. What they said: "Indispensable", "You are our best resource", and (hours later!) "I'm afraid that you're being made redundant..."

I have the contraceptive implant in my arm. I had to stop taking the combined pill since it was bringing on some funky migraines which equals high stroke risk. Anyway the implant releases the same hormones as are in the mini-pill which is a lot safer for most women, than the combined. The implant lasts for 3 years and once it's in you can forget about it. It's pretty good and after years of taking the pill (on and off!) I find it's liberating. None of that "Did I remember to take my pill?" worry  each day.

That's interesting, do you remember what the company was called?

Not so much custom made, but the BEST condoms I have ever used (and will only ever use) are OKAMOTO 003. They are made in Japan from polyurethane which is stronger and more durable than other latex/non-latex brands. They are thinner, which means the client feels more of oral / sex and is hypoallergenic.

You have to order them online as far as I know, not sure of any stockists in the UK. I've been stocking up for my return!
