Condom friendly massage oils
« on: 17 June 2018, 12:21:07 pm »
Can anyone recommend a brand of massage oils that are to safe to use with condoms? Preferably unscented. I did a search but couldn't find any specific brands except durex but their website only appears to sell scented.
Also, is it mad to use talc? I used to use talc back in the day but it's not very nice and gets everywhere.
Thanks! :)

TBH, I'm not sure such a thing exists? I checked the Skyns website and they say their condoms (i.e. non-latex) shouldn't be used with oils either.

Perhaps there's some sort of water-based gel that could be used instead, but it wouldn't have the same effect for the massage.

I don't do massage, but I do use Pjur Woman (white bottle) silicone lube, which from what I can tell is basically just silicone oil and completely fragrance free? It's carbon based oils that affect condoms so this one is fine and it's certainly liquid enough to use for massage - a little goes a long way :).

It does stain though, so don't get it on sheets or clothes.

Thanks Kay and Amy!

I'll try the Pjur Woman, it sounds perfect :)

I've used it for years! It doesn't go sticky or dry so I think it would be really good - I buy the big bottles but I'm sure they do a little one to try. Make sure it's the white bottle one though, because the normal Pjur Bodyglide is really thick (although it's still good).

That's brilliant Amy, thank you  :) My talc days can stay in the past where they belong!

From my personal experience, all massage oils are not condom safe. Lubes like Pjur are great but they are not designed for massage.

The working method I've adopted is "if he wants a massage, I'll use this body lotion, but only on his back,  legs and arms.

How about massage oil friendly condoms instead?  :D Latex free, I mean.

The advice is not to use oils, even with latex-free condoms, though I think the risk is less.

Hmm... I thought they can be used with oil-based lubricants?  ???

If you can find polyurethane ones (like Femidoms) then they're fine; I think Durex Avanti used to be made from it too which would explain the horrendous crisp-packet rustling noise. Most modern non-latex condoms are made from polyisoprene, which can't be used with (carbon based) oils either, although my knowledge of organic chemistry is sadly too limited to understand why :).

I remember looking into all this when I stopped using latex condoms because I normally wear lip balm and since I only do covered oral it came as a bit of a shock to find out that any trace of it could bugger up the condom :(.

OMG, I am so far from a chemistry doctor it's unreal! Sorry everyone but I'm getting a bit bamboozled. My fault.
I didn't know there were latex and non latex condoms. I usually use Skyns. Is that OK to use with Pjur Woman lube/massage oil?
Sorry for asking basic questions but I want to be sure.

I have 4 GCSEs and one of them is Chemistry, if it helps :D

Pjur Woman is silicone oil and therefore not carbon/mineral/petroleum based. It's fine with all condoms, and a combination of that and Skyns (which are polyisoprene) is what I use every day along with Liquid Silk (which also has some silicone in it and I suspect that's why it stays unsticky for such a long time) :).

Thanks Amy,

My brain is all a flutter at the moment due to a bereavement so thanks for being patient. Also my GCSEs were in English and Sociology!
So basically I can use Pjur with Skyns and no problem? Thanks :)
