Getting billed by Backpage.com
« on: 13 April 2013, 10:09:03 am »
I've been posting quite a lot of ads in the last months in Backpage and it has worked for me really good. So I went to the bank yesterday to make a deposit and while I'm standing behind the glass infront of the teller and he's looking at my bank records on the screen he goes "Oh....you're putting a lot of ads in backpage" (Smile-wink wink).

I'm deadpanned. Cause this guy is "a friend of a friend" who doesn't know my occupation.

My question is: Can the bank know where and which section are you placing the ads? Or do they get billed to your account in a generic way as in "backpage advertisement" end off? I know I should be making this question to my bank teller but" a) It would have been the biggest give away b) I was too embarassed.

I could be selling hand painted furniture or advertising reiki treatments as far as my bank is concerned but I don't want them to know about my ads in the "adult section".

I am sure it will only say backpage and nothing else referring to the adult section. There are other sections you could have paid to advertise on so the teller needs to get his head out of thinking it is just the adult work section you may have advertised on, and you need to stop feeling embarrassed just because he made that remark. ;D

I'm not sure and don't quote me on it but is backpage not like vivastreet where you only pay for the adult sections with the rest of the sections being free.  I'm not sure but I think it is the ladies and gents who advertise in the adult sections that actually allow the other advertisers to advertise for free by supplementing them.

I would make sure I didn't get the same teller again just in case.

I've no idea. But the bank chap should be more embarrassed at his lack of professionalism, than you should  >:( regardless of if he knows you through someone else x

There's quite a few sections for all type of profesionals (therapeutic massage, coaching, photographers, painters, plumbers etc...) were you need to pay too, it's not only  the adult section that charges $$.

No problems then if you could be advertising on any of those sections. No one can KNOW what you are advertising.

I'd look him square in the eyes, smile and say thats correct I am... Is there a problem? Do you/I need to call the manager?

See him squirm then the little git, after that I'd be straight over to the manager asking is it common practise for his staff to comment on transactions on my account grrrrrrrrrrrr
