I got a new client last week, first impression: nice guy, good looking, easy to talk to etc. He stayed for half an hour, then extended to an hour, then another half hour. Paid each time decided to extend, it was a quiet night so I said ok. Once he left, it got busier, and (my mistake) I didn't get to count my cash till the morning. Then I've realised I was 60 quid short. And obv there was only one moment when that client was left in my room when I left the money there (stupid me).
Anyways couldn't prove it, he came back the next night and everything was fine then. Apart from the fact that he started asking for my personal nr, being very open about his life, having deep conversations with me, I didn't disclose anything, just enjoyed the chat, he became quite cuddly at the end and took a long time to leave.
Now here's the thing, last night he came to see me again, he brought food, was chatty, mentioning he'd like to take me out, help me out with my ad etc, I kept on politely changing the topic, he stayed for two hours, asked if he could spend the night - I declined coz I new he wouldn't pay enough.
He asked when he's going to see me again, asked a lot about my likes, dislikes, again was very cuddly at the end etc I want to point out, he was nice the whole time, talked about his previous relationship, trust and all that. I'm a good listener so didn't mind.
Now once he left I checked for the money. And of course it was gone.... That night I was working from a hotel, so not a big choice of hiding places for cash, only went to the bathroom once with the door open, and I can't believe I didn't hear my suitcase being open as that's where I put the cash. I contacted him straight away saying how disgusted and disappointed I am, and I'm sooo confused and angry.
Firstly as, I had hopes for a good regular who's actually good at the stuff, wasn't hoping for anything more but the guy confused the heck out of me, talking about trust, Jesus, and how he'd like to get to know me. (came to see me 3 times within two weeks)
What's done is done, I haven't heard from him after I send him my text message, but I could use advice about where/how do you store your money if working from a hotel room? Obv when using the bathroom, the client stays in the room with money hidden there so you never know if they're going to try and take it? I'm fairly new to the business, made few mistakes and trying to learn from it!

Hide it somewhere that it's not easy to get to, I'm very quick in the loo and am very on the ball.

If in a hotel room with just an en suite bathroom and the client is right there having just handed over the cash, it must be difficult to actually put the money away safely when he is probably watching you and talking to you etc. It is obviously not impossible though as hundreds of wgs tour and manage not to get their money stolen back from clients.

Perhaps asking him to wash his hands before rejoining you in the bedroom would give you a chance to quickly make the cash vanish and not just sitting in your suitcase, unless it can be locked immediately and the key put in a good place which would be easy I think!

Hope this hasn't compromised anyone but I have been giving it some thought since the op managed to get robbed twice from possibly the same client!

Sorry this happened to you. What VC and all others said is very good advice.

I sometimes hide money in places that are non-obvious but are in 'plain sight' and haven't had a problem yet.

Thanks for all your advice. I actually just thought of another   way to keep the money safe when working from a hotel. But I do like the idea of asking the client to pop into the bathroom first to give me a moment.
I won't see this client obv though u highly doubt he would ever contact me again.

Dont put the money they pay you with any other money, just put it somewhere that is easy to hide with a turn of a back and somewhere thats easy to keep your eye on, once they have left hide it well. If they are going to take money, its better they can only take what they have paid you rather than all of it. Also try and make sure you dont have previous days takings the next day

Losthope makes a good point. Better to have 2 or 3 hiding places also, just in case a snooping client stumbles across one, or god forbid, forces you to reveal one. This way they at least don't get their hands on all of your take.

If I don't get an opportunity to hide it I put it on the desk poking out from my makeup bag or something similar. I perch on the desk while they get undressed and I'm straight back on it while they dress. I'm like VC though, I DO NOT use the bathroom while they are present and I don't take my eyes off the client. I will add though if there's an opportunity to hide then I do.
