Title: cleaning sex toys
Post by: Miss Carolines secret on 01 March 2016, 10:24:10 pm
I'm hoping this is the best place to add the topic of sterilisation of sex toys .
Am currently washing anal vibrators in soap and very hot water
I purchased  vibrating anal beads recently and wondered should I wash these the same way after use.
I use condoms on the strap on
What cleaning methods do you all use on toys ?

I put condoms over anything that goes up an arse.

Try to wash everything in the sink, keeping the electrical bits out of the water. So a regular bullet vibrator I will swish in the water and wipe with a flannel, holding it by the battery end so that doesn't get submerged. Sometimes I will put a bit of detol in the basin full of water and swish things around.

I do similar. I find the small bullet vibrators come to no harm from being fully submerged and washed. None have packed up on me.  With the bigger vibrators yes just keep top part out, you can still wash them thoroughly.

The other thing to add is that step one is to buy easily cleanable stuff. This translates as things like silicone and glass rather than rubber or that awful soft plastic.

I use alcohol wipes for most toys,  glass ones go in the dishwasher  >:(

But I still use condoms on mostly everything to avoid uti's.

You can buy a special cleanser, but I wasn't impressed. I normally use a couple of squirts of something like Hibiscrub or Carex hand soap in a basin of hot water, being careful not to submerge anything near a battery. I also use alcohol wipes on some, like my wand.

Got some good tips here but the long pink plastic anal beads it would not be possible to cover them all  in a condom I better just use booing water and detol after

You can just clean the anal beads with a cloth. First with a baby wipe to get the physical stuff and then with a dettol-soaked flannel to make sure. As long as there is nothing porous it will be fine.

It's not an ebola hotzone - normal common sense measure will be fine.

I don't use toys much, but back in the day when I had a strap on and similar bits and bobs as well as putting condoms over them and washing in hot soapy water I used to sterilise everything with Milton fluid, or whatever the supermarket version was (the stuff you do babies bottles with) :).

I don't use toys often, when I do I clean them with soap and water plus a specialist cleaning spray. One toy is only ever used by one client, so I don't use a condom on it, I would if anyone else used it.
