Chip and PIN for escorts?
« on: 22 August 2009, 02:38:32 pm »
Escorts should maybe think about using chip and pin as altrerative to cash?  Maybe there is a posting somewhere already offering advise on this???

Um, you mean why don't we get merchant accounts and credit card machines? I don't think it makes any difference whether you take a PIN or signature, but we've had discussions about the difficulty, expense and risk of taking payment by card. Search for "credit card" if you want to find them.

Credit/debit cards can still be charged back by the issuer - either saying the card was stolen or that he never authorised the transaction. A well known agency has told me they have problems with card payments this way.

Also, the practicalities of credit card payments don't have anything to do with this warning so I'm splitting the thread.

You must be joking. Cold hard cash for me thanks, as mercenary as that sounds. I would imagine there's nothing worse than doing an overnight or a weekend, getting paid by credit card and the customer calling his credit card company the next day and stopping the payment. No ta!

If you have a chip and pin and take a payment in person they cannot actually make a chargeback that what I have been told anyways.

However to be honest I am not sure how high a demand that indies have for credit cards we have not been asked for it once yet as an agency

Nothing smells as good as cash either !!!

Still no thanks. Chip and PIN is still susceptible to fraud by cloning. How do we know that the customer in front of you is using the chip and PIN that is his? Imagine if it is stolen and the person who the chip and PIN does belong to takes the appropriate steps to get his money back? Where does that leave you?

I had heard that for C&P the onus is on the back to carry the refund - it's only when using the signature system or online transactions that the 'retailer' is affected.

Bit of an update on this and previous discussions. I've recently signed up for a special search service on the internet. The database offered is way, way out of date and therefore completely useless to me. I have tried getting a chargeback on my VISA credit card but my provider says you can't do it if it's s service and the service has been provided. Doesn't matter if the service isn't quite what it pretends to be and I have to chase it with the provider - who aren't responding to any of my emails or phone calls, which is why I went to my card company.

So how do guys then chargeback for our services?Or would they say it was goods not recieved?I do know that a lot of banks don't give payment facilities to adult service providers - so would and adult SP then be claiming to sell goods and then this is how some agencies do experience chargebacks on credit cards?A well known agency have told me this does happen to them.

Perhaps someone can find out if they are bored!!!!

I know I might be a bit of an old fuddy duddy here, but I'm happy to stick with cash unless I really have to change.  :P

Well, nothing's going to change anytime soon. Banks aren't going to be giving us indies merchant accounts to accept either Chip and PIN or credit cards. As far as they're concerned, it's not a viable profession.

I've just checked this out and apparantly the guys simply say they didn't get the service. There are some Indies who seem to manage to offer card transactions. I can only presume they have a cover story for the bank.
