A couple of days ago, I noticed what looked like a little group of blisters on my face, next to the outer corner of my eye. Yesterday, I went for a tanning session, and a couple of hours later, noticed these blistery things had become really sore, and I was looking a bit swollen around the eye area.
This morning, well, the whole eye area was so badly swollen that I cancelled my appointments for the day (didn't want to scare them).
So I had a thought, eyes have membranes, so is it possible I could have transferred bacteria from a clients bits? Say, if I touched them, then unconciously touched my face/eye before washing my hands?
Just wondered if any one has any idea, before I go to my doctor, and have to ask him 'do my eyes have herpes'?

Hiya yes you can get a form of herpes in your eye.........of course it may not be that at all, but just go and get checked out.

I think you can get chlamydia in the eye, too. Get yourself to the doctor ASAP - asking people on the Internet is going to neither diagnose nor cure you!

Well, oral herpes can be transmitted to the genitals so it occured to me that it could be possible.
Doctors on monday (earliest appt I could get!), but the thing's cleared up, so Im hoping they can still swab it or something to get a diagnosis on what it was...
Yeh, the oral herpes thing, that's why I was interested how guys react to being asked to use them* for reverse oral,
I don't do anything else unprotected, so why aren't I doing that protected???
I'm going to order some off the internet now I think, just talked myself into it!

Hope it all works out. It's best to avoid the internet I get myself in to all sorts of stresses! I found a sore spot on my lady bits, googled away and diagnosed myself with herpes, I felt sick, rushed off to the GUM clinic to be told....in grown hair lol oh well

I have been informed by the sex workers clinic I go to (and I think it's even confirmed on the NHS website) that you can catch an STI from fingers. For example, if a client has fluid on his fingers and touches you, then yes you can get it.

Has been known to happen so it's just a matter of really getting into the habit of washing hands immediately, which I now do regardless of whether there's been an exposure of fluids or not!

I do hope you are OK and if you haven't been to the docs then maybe a visit to the chemist might put you at ease?

Herpes is an incredible common disease (I've heard that one out of each five people carry it). You can get it from mouth to genital contact and the virus stays in your body forever. You can carry it on your organism for many years before having a first outbreak and don't even know you're carrying it. My ex flatmate (had gen. herpes) was told by her OBGYN to always have 2 different towels: one for her body another one for her face. Never to wipe her face with the same towel she wipes her pussy as that's the most common way of catching eye herpes.

But for most people the immune system gets rid of Type 2 within a year; for Type 1 its incredibly rare to have a repeat outbreak. (this from GUM practitioners) There are a lot of scaremongering sites about herpes, the best is herpes.org. It really isn't a life sentance.

As to the towels yes very good idea to have separate ones.

Ana my real point was there is a lot of hysteria about herpes and misinformation. Probably 75% who have it never have an outbreak and so don't know they have it.

You can only be diagnosed IF you get a full on outbreak (and believe me you will know it if that happens). There is some controversy about aysmptomatic 'shedding' in the medical profession.

The virus may remain there.........just like the cold sore virus, or indeed the chicken pox virus. But the immune system is an amazing thing and only a minority of people have ongoing attacks after a year has passed. If the virus is dormant then you are not infectious. The problems occur when symptoms are so mild and can be mistaken for other conditions ie. thrush. Thats when its most likely to be passed on. Or indeed from those with oncoming cold sores.

My information came from GUM doctors\specialists. If anyone is at all worried please go get checked out; for information there is the excellent herpes.org where there is also a helpline run by people who have had experience of it.
