Bv infection second time before period.
« on: 14 January 2024, 11:48:32 pm »
Hi
I have regular Bv infection usually like 1 day before my period starts.  :FFI I think it has something with hormones as I also get headache the day before my period and I never had any problems like that in the past.  I took medication from boots which is for Bv/trush pessaries like a dual treatment. The smell is gone but I’m wondering if I should get antibiotics if this still comes back ? If so where I can order it and what those I should take ?

I suffer too, it’s so annoying and makes me feel so paranoid! I’m currently taking antibiotics for it that I ordered online. I use the case balance gels which really help take the smell away. Works after one treatment but you should do it for 7 nights. I’m stopping fingering because I think that’s what’s causing it for me.

Do you wash with soaps down there? I find the ph balancing one’s even make me smell. I just wash with warm water inside and limit baths. Pessaries work and antibiotics. Antibiotics shouldnt be taken regularly. I find I end up getting thrush from antibiotics, which make it even worse.

Thanks girls for all your advice.
I had Bv once only in the past and I work many years like that. I never wash myself with soap etc. I’m quite strict as I catch more often thrush  especially after antibiotics. This time I realise I have this second month just the day before my period. 5 days before I get dry and very tight and it’s really hard for me to have sex. I think sex cause me that problem. I have used Bv gel on those dry days so it helped me to moisture but Bv came up anyway. I’ve used some treatments from boots which is like a dual for Trush and Bv and looks like I’m fine now but maybe someone having the same problem as me and could advice me how to avoid it before my period ?

If you get dry and tight maybe it’s worth using extra lube, I use very small syringes that I order from Amazon to use inside and keeps me super wet, the men think they have that affect on me lol. I used to dab lube on before they arrive but sometimes it rubs off too quick

I used to get this regularly but after my period.  It's just a hormone inbalance.  I used to get  Metronidazole vaginal gel from the doctors and just used to use one shot and that sorted me out.  It is a course but I only needed one shot at a time, so the prescription lasted a while.

You can also get from the chemist like Boots a Bacterial Vaginosis application kit.  It comes in 7 little 5ml applicators .  You could try that first to see if it works and if it's strong enough.  Maybe a trial and error thing.  Try one shot first if that doesn't work try 2.  Something like that.

If you go down the doctors route ask for the gel form not the tablet of Metronidazole.  If you do get the table DO NOT drink alcohol of any amount as it will make you extremely sick.
