I second the recommendation to subscribe to the email forwarding. It really helps to be able to just glance at my phone and see if I really need to go log in to AW on my laptop or if I can just ignore it for the time being.

They both sound fine to me, I think most people feel a bit like 'aww

' if they see someone has read their email but didn't respond.. I've been told by clients several times that some emails they send never get responded to, despite them being genuine clients. If the client has had that happen to him, I could completely understand a cheeky reminder email..at least it shows you that he is keen!

Thirded. Best 4 credits I ever spent, and it's saved me loads of time when I've been busy. Seeing the plain notification and logging into AW just to find a text speak oneliner headed straight for Bintown is infuriating enough anyway, but far worse when you're short on minutes

I don't think there was any need for that.I am with Blondie if I can't answer I leave it unread.We are running a business and that to me is answering enquiries in my working day asap.I don't see a problem with either email.The guy who sent the 2nd mail might well have wanted to get booked in as soon as he could and alot of guys have limited opportunities to make arrangements.I hear punters moaning alot about big delays in getting a response or not getting one at all.When he could see you had read it he was expecting a response that evening.It surely only takes 2 mins to reply with a yay or nay.

Bibi, it's up to you if you want to pick fault with my posts

I reacted to a post which was in response to my admission that I sometimes read messages on the go. I didn't find the response very constructive. I've moved on - perhaps you haven't

As this is a support and advice forum, I did my best to help the OP and admitted that I'm not perfect...as a result I've been given a great suggestion as to how I can avoid the email situation in future. That was constructive :-)

I agree with you when we're talking about a text, but not with e-mail on a website. I don't have internet at my incall flat so I can't respond to an AW message without having to log into it on my phone which is a pain in the ass and doesn't take two minutes. And if I'm out and about, same thing. If I'm shopping at Debenhams and someone texts me, I will turn away from the sales counter to respond. But I'm not going to go into the effort of logging into AW there. I tell guys to to text me if they want a fast response it's not my problem if they're too lazy to read my profile to see that part.

And if a message is rude or carless I just block them and don't respond. Messages like "r u available" "20 mins?" "please send post code" do not deserve my valuable time of writing out a response. They can suck it if it inconveniences them.

My point was if you have taken the time to log in and read it then you may as well answer quickly. Its the person having read it then not answering which may make some guys think they are being ignored or messed about.

Sometimes it's not a case of being able to respond quickly. In my case, I'm very part time and take very few bookings. Therefore, if I read a message on my phone asking if I'm free at 12 on Thursday, I might need to think it through to see if it's possible. That would include needing to get home and check my diary.

The notifications is a good idea though and a valuable piece of advice, taken on board

I do try to answer my mail as I read it, but on this occasion I was at a loss what to think. I wasn't sure if I liked the tone of the message and being new I wanted some second, third fourth and however many opinions to help me. At this stage I don't know what is good, bad or just plain creepy. Some are screamingly obvious but others are not. Also like mimi I am part time so need to check I am not double booking with my everyday life. The whole process is new to me and I have to double and triple check everything. But thank you all for your contributions, most were helpful. And to bring you all up to speed I didn't see either, after speaking to one it turns out he was wanting something I don't offer and I didn't like the tone of the second and declined his offer.

Well, I don't log in to AW unless I'm going to respond because I have the subscription service so I can just read them in my e-mail, but even if I do, that doesn't mean I am required to respond immediately. I may need to check if I'm available or be waiting to hear back from a client to confirm a time that they're asking about. There's tons of reasons. Waiting a day is another thing entirely but I think it's unfair to expect everyone to respond in five minutes. I'm usually communicating with somewhere between 10 and 20 punters a day and I sometimes have to wait for someone else to respond about a time, if they asked first, before I can respond to someone else.

That's fair enough but then I just say something like 'Hi, I will need to check my availability and then I will get back to you as soon as I can'.
I agree the detailed email subscription is invaluable it saves logging in and making it look like an email has been read and ignored.
