Hi Tantric! Yes as others have said it maybe wasn't the best idea to be so open..... but it's done now and I guess there is something to be said for being honest and unashamed!

Please don't go on to tell them you are a weed smoker though, even if your neighbours do it too. Think of it this way, why give them information on a plate when they would otherwise have to work for it? Saying you're uncomfortable with a camera inside your private home is enough and a very fair comment. If you're confronted with any other "evidence" just practise your innocent expression, and then come back with a response once you've had time to think, or take further advice.

Hope all goes well and it all gets sorted out.

Found out something very interesting this evening, i seen my elderly gossipy neighbours today and they invited me in for a cuppa and we got talking and [potentially identifying content redacted] I am very satisfied that the CCTV is absolutely fuck all to do with me, and still haven’t heard from housing and I was home all day and nobody came to their door, but 2 years ago woman underneath me had a camera and HA told her to remove it, it still doesn’t help me though as CCTV will still see my guests so it’s apartments all the way from here on in.

I’m not embarrased to tell HA I have an active sex life in person should they bring it up, it’s a whole lot better than saying I’m a hooker, plus I’m not an easily embarrassed person about stuff like my fictional tinder sex life so I really don’t care about that at all!

I am glad that I went into the neighbours today, they really made me feel better when they told me why CCTV is there [redacted]!

I'm just thinking, if your neighbour does put up a sign saying "CCTV recording 24 hours" is that going to be a problem with your clients?  Your clients may well not spot the CCTV but they are more likely to see the sign.   You are between a rock and a hard place with that one.  Just hope the HA tell them to take it down would be your best result.

Do you know something, I’m really not too bothered now because it can be very unsafe and risky working from home anyway and so I think serviced apartments are gonna be better for me, plus I’ll be in the actual city and not in the village outside of it so I’ll make more money and I can come home knowing that I’ve made money without risking anything.

I am pissed off that I’m gonna have to pay to make money but hey ho, that’s just the way it goes and imagine if I got attacked in my house then I probs wouldn’t want to keep living there due to the bad memories an attack would cause so it’s maybe for the best that home won’t be my place of work anymore.

Thanks for all your advice and replies ladies xx

Or if it’d purpose built apartment then  it’s often built in with the intercom system
At my flat it’s built in with the intercoms system  but it’s not obvious and unless you have eyesight like superman and can see through walls  you wouldn’t know it’s there

I know so many young lads who hire apartments at weekends here in Edinburgh to party and they have people coming in all night long and nothing ever gets said to them so camera or not, then they’re okay.

Hi is it not possible to work with cctv at all? If you wanted to see about four a day could get away with it? I want to try a [serviced apartment] when my flat is getting fixed. It has cctv on the main door but no reception. About 12 rooms and three floors. Mine would be up stairs. But I can give clients the code for the main door downstairs to come up. Anyone done this before?

Jeez 4 a day would be a dream! But not possible in the present situation even if I got that amount of bookings.
Neighbours are all obsessed with cameras and I feel like I'm being watched even in a privately owned situation.

It depends on the type of CCTv

It’s probably too risky. A serviced apartment [redacted] and monthly let’s. Reception is about Five or ten min away

I thought I would give you an update on this CCTV situation...

So the CCTV is gone now, thankfully, and this is because one of the guys, the one who installed the CCTV, has moved out and took his camera down when he left, which was about 6 weeks ago now so I'm happy with that.

However, his ex, the one whose still there actually asked me, about a week after the other one left, if I was an escort!!! Wow! I just laughed, like uncontrollably, I just couldn't stop myself for some reason and I asked him "wtf makes you think that", and he said " coz I walked past 4 guys coming out of yours and the front door (we have a front and back door to the stair) and I thought to myself 'she's an escort', but don't worry I won't tell anyone but be careful", I denied it but I do believe he knows 100% and I actually trust him not to say anything to our other neighbours.

I don't know if he really did see 4 men coming out my flat that day or if he knew from watching the CCTV and maybe this is why he didn't mention it when the camera was here! He's gay and I have found gay men the least judgmental group, about our line of work, compared to straight men and women.  He's also a bit of a character whose lived a colourful life himself, so I don't think me being an escort is a shocking thing to him, I trust him but I'll never admit it!

For what it's worth, I installed a ring doorbell on my front door because one of my clients turned into a batshit stalker and knows my home address, kept making threats about coming here, I have no peephole, or any windows that look out onto the actual front door or building entrance. My flat door faces the street and it's just a long, straight corridor of flats side by side, so not overlooking anyones entrance, but I have noticed some neighbours make weird gestures towards it when walking past. I so desperately wanted to leave a sign saying 'I don't care what you're doing dear neighbours, I just have a stalker, keep walking' or just straight up knocking on their doors to explain, but I do sometimes have clients here so didn't want to draw more attention to myself. It does notify me on my phone (via the ring app) when someone walks past as it's motion activated, or if someones stood outside my door ringing the bell, but that rarely happens as I'd have to buzz them into the building first (unless some idiot leaves the main door held open). I open the door and cover it with my hand for clients walking in, but most of them know whats been happening so they get it.

I never knew the legality issues of it, as everyone seems to be obsessed with ring doorbells now, I just need it for safety and the police know I have it
