Oh, I think a Silkymit was my first form of hair removal. As far as I remember it was like shaving but a lot more work, and I sometimes rubbed too much skin off my legs so I wouldn't want to use it on more delicate skin.

Oh i love my silkmitts.  you use them after shaving and rub GENTLY in circular movements and it smooths your legs till they are like silk.  i love them love them love them.  but the key word is gently... meant more as an exfoliator rather than a shaving alternative or skin removal treatment  :(

Hi girls,

Im starting my laser hair removal on the 17th June  ;D. Found a place in Glasgow that does a Hollywood for ?75. One session every 8 weeks and you need about 3-4 sessions and then one every year to maintain. My bikini area is in a terrible mess from shaving so often, even the best blades are causing irritation :(. This girl im seeing doesnt do IPL its a different kind of laser that works on the fairest hair to asian hair. Im pretty excited about the results. If any of you Glasgow girls are having the same issue i would certainly consider this method of hair removal as the results speak for themselves (they girl showed me her bikini line)  and it pays for itself over time. People say its sore but anyone ive spoken to says its like a rubber band being pinged off you when the laser hits the hair folicle and blows it up (this is how it stops producing hair, well for a period of time anyway hence the yearly visit). Anyone else had it done before?

I had laser hair removal on my bikini area about 5 years ago.  Had to buy a pack of 3 and seemed to do the trick.  I had a top up session about two years ago and a session on my under arms aswell.    The procedure was extremely painful but worth it for me.  I still get a little growth but shave it as its so little.  Id love to have my legs done eventually and more top ups on the under arms.  I went to a dermatologists office to do this and would be very cautious about doing this any where other than a medical clinic.

I've just had my bikini line lasered, too - three sessions down and one left to go, then yearly top-ups. I've only done the 'triangle' area at the front because it was quite excruciating during the first session but much improved for the second and third one. It's a good idea to take a paracetomol with codeine (over the counter tablets) or two about half an hour before the lasering starts, if you can!

I don't mind shaving in general, it was just the irritation and in-growns that were driving me mad so I'm really glad that the whole area is super-smooth now. I'll probably get legs and underarms done in winter (when I'm all ghostly pale again, meh) but if they'd hurry up and invent lasers that work on darker skintones I'd get everywhere done right now! :D

I've tried just about everything apart from laser hair removal without success.  Although, conditioner on the bikini line first is a new one for me (I'll try that one tonight and hopefully I won't get a shaving rash).  I've found that Sudocrem really helps if you get a shaving/waxing/immac etc. rash.  Although don't put too much on if you're going out to see a client, as you'll just have a big white patch in that area  :D
