Hep B Vaccine Question
« on: 02 July 2013, 01:51:14 pm »
About 9 years ago now I had the Hepatitis B vaccination, and then a test done afterwards to check it had worked, which it had.  None of the staff at that time mentioned it would need to be re-done ever, I had the impression that was it for life.

My question is does it have to be re-done?  I am a pro domme, not having sex or oral sex with anyone, and the last time I talk to someone at the GU clinic they told me the only STI I had to worry about with the activities I do was Herpes if I did facesitting even though I always do it with underwear on, if someone had an outbreak on their lips.  I never thought to mention about Hep B.

Just wondered if anyone here had to have a booster or is the jab for life.

Yes you should ideally have a booster (single jab) after 5 years or a complete treatment of 3 jabs if it has been 10 years.

As Mrs Mischief says, you need another jab after 5 years.
Even though you don't offer sex or oral with anyone, if you use needles or offer anything that may cause someone to bleed then it's always best to get Heb B.

I just booked in for a blood test to test my level of immunity, they have said if it is low I can get a booster/vaccine.  Just annoyed no one told me this at any of my appointments over the years.  I don't do medical/blood play or needles, so they say I am very very low risk, that may be the reason.

I always ask them to test my Hep B immunity with every set of routine testing I have at the GUM clinic.

That is why it is better to make ourselves aware about these things. As cannot rely on others to explain everything. I look and find out new things. Did you know that the sauna boosts ones immune system. Now.! the doctors won't tell you that for a start.

You will find all sorts of claims made about things but unless they are properly clinically trailed there is no evidence to support the claims. Doctors should only make recommendations where there is clinical evidence to show that there is a real benefit from something.

The sauna is great...it also heats up your core body temp to give you a slight fever to kill off any bad germs/illnesses. But, I went AFTER my treatment for Gonorrhea, just to over-kill any bacteria LOL.

The only thing with Saunas, is they drain you out of electrolytes and other stuff. I did mine yesterday late afternoon, and could not get out of bed until after 1 pm this afternoon. Everytime I tried to get out of bed, I just felt paralyzed lol.  I didn't get the proper replenishment.

I went to a private clinic on Wednesday and had a blood test done to see if I needed a booster or another course of vaccinations for Hep B, and my results came in today saying I still have a high level of immunity so was advised I don't need anything., so very happy :)
