Best areas of London for work?
« on: 08 October 2021, 10:12:39 am »
Hello all,

I am considering a move to London in the new year. I am hoping to get some advice about the best areas in London for getting an incall space.
I don't know much about London really, I toured there last month and my incall location was right near Embankment station. Fairly busy and a few punters came through, but I'd be interested in hearing others' experiences and information about different areas.
So, what do you think the 'best'/most affluent/highest footfall areas of London to work are?
A few areas I've looked at for incall spaces are:

Pimlico
Angel
Camden
Hoxton/Shoreditch
Canary Wharf

Any information or advice is much appreciated :D

I'm in the City although I only offer outcalls so cannot really advise. However, if I were looking for an incall place, I wouldn't opt for any of your choices.

What I do suggest is do some research on each area using AW so you can see what's available. I always think doing your homework like this is invaluable as you might spot a gap in the market for what you're doing and be better placed to make an informed choice re. location and/or services or even which days you want to work.

I don't know what you mean by 'incall space'; do you mean a flat to live in as well as work, or a hotel or a serviced apartment to use regularly?

I've worked all over London and settled in the City - why not move around a few areas and get an idea of what suits you rather than just guess, especially as one person's busy/perfect is another persons nightmare and just because a place suits someone else doesn't mean you'll like it (Kensington and Chelsea used to be popular but I hated it so much there on the one time I went I left after a day and a half).

A lot depends on how you want to work and also your budget. I don't like working in the evenings so here suits me fine; Pimlico is great if you prefer to start/finish a bit later, as is Angel (neither will be cheap, but not horrendous either) but I'd probably avoid Canary Wharf for now until things settle back to normal a bit more.

Camden and Hoxton/Shoreditch I've passed through many times but not worked. I'd imagine the footfall is pretty good in either though.

I haven’t returned to work since the pandemic started so I am not sure how much things have changed, but for me I found The City (around Bank/ Monument) and Angel to be the best for me. I don’t like working too late, prefer to be done and in my PJ’s by 6pm  ;D

I did try out West London  near Victoria a few years ago, really didn’t like it. However obviously it works for some people! And to echo Amy- I would also advise avoiding Canary Wharf, at least for a while.

I always did really well at Victoria/Pimlico, but their hours don't suit me and I wouldn't want to live there. As for further west, ye Gods no.

Sorry for the confusion - I mean a serviced apartment or a flat to live/work in.
I was just trying to put some feelers out there because I'm not overly familiar with the different areas of London. I am going to come up and try out some different places before the new year so hopefully that will help me get a bit more familiar :D

I think this is a really difficult question to answer to some extent - it is one of those how long is a piece of string type questions, but let me give you some ideas.

Firstly, your client base will depend on the price point you set and the services you offer, in addition to the times that you work and these factors will determine the best place to work in London for you and your needs.

Working in busy areas like Old Street, Liverpool Street, Holborn, Euston and areas like that may attract lunchtime footfall from office workers ( whomever may be left nowadays post Covid WFH era).

Areas around commuter train stations have always been good in the past pre- pandemic times as many men would find getting a service before they headed home to the leafy home counties really convenient.  So areas like Waterloo, Charing Cross, Euston, London Bridge, Victoria, Paddington, Liverpool Street, St. Pancras and King's Cross were good for getting those commuter clients.

Obviously a luxury apartment base in Zone 1,2 or 3 is going to be pricey so once again it depends on distance from Tube stop, if you have parking or is it on a bus route and easy to get to for a client to find you without any hassle or issues.  Some girls swear by Victoria, Sloane Square, Knightsbridge and Kensington but while these areas work out to be a gold mine for some, others find the client base dry and dusty.

Bayswater, Paddington, Shepherds Bush and Hammersmith work out well for others, as these areas are very well connected transit wise and fairly Central.

If you are thinking of venturing to the outskirts, what I call car territory, you may pick up a client base from men who are using their cars to and from work and should consider flats that are not too far from motorways or exits but also not smack dab in the middle of a traffic route from hell.  Areas like Greenwich or Lewisham in the SE area or Golders Green/ Edgware in the NW area for example.

Some working girls love the Heathrow area for the incoming / outgoing travellers, while others hate it.

Before settling on an area, it might be best if you tour London and work from the different areas until you find a good fit for you and your working profile/method/criteria.

Think about your normal demographics of your clients - do you get a lot of old, young, white, black, Asian, senior professionals, working class tradesmen, etc etc.

Play to your strengths and your favourite clients - rich (and sometimes arrogant) white men? Go City of London or canary wharf (though agree with Amy the latter is not a great idea right now.) Young Black guys? Try somewhere like Stratford. Tradesmen? Camden (I fucking love Camden) Heavy handed lorry drivers? Thurrock.

For a good mix of all those, try out somewhere like Borehamwood or Enfield. Less expensive than Central London and you'll be more likely to get passing trade.

If you want to work and live, I'd try out with serviced apartments first rather than hotels. There are some punters that will just not ever use hotels, and some who won't ever use apartments.
And me, I am not a mess, I am a wilderness, yes
The undiscovered continent for you to undress

I’m biased and love Pimlico. I worked from Pimlico and Vauxhall for years, and this was before the regeneration of Vauxhall. It’ll probably be more lucrative now. I now work from a different area, but I loved the clients I would get when in Vauxhall/Pimlico. It’s outside the congestion charging zone and Pimlico has super easy parking which is plentiful and then free evenings and weekends. It has cheap council tax too (Westminster). My clients were mainly nice businessmen from Surrey on their way home or ones stopping by for some fun if they had cancelled meetings. I definitely got more regulars in that area than any other place I’ve worked in London. If you’re here short term the city would be the best bet for footfall, but long term if you want some good easy regs who have homes to go to and won’t outstay their welcome then definitely Pimlico. If I went back to escorting full time I’d definitely set up base there.

Thank you all for taking the time to respond - these answers are definitely very useful for someone who is a total London newbie! Seems the best course of action is to try a few different areas and see what works well for me :) xx
