Hi guys,

I may have to go and make a statement about a situation that is possibly unrelated  (but also may be related) to escorting. There is not a way I could explain my part without divulging I am a sex worker.

My question is: if i go and make a statement or get interviewed with the police and I divulge I am a sex worker to clear up some unanswered questions, do they keep a note of it on file?  Im sure they wouldn't if I was a self employed gardener or something similar.

Thanks!

Short answer yes.

Longer answer police put my 'last known occupation' as Escort (self-employed) onto my DBS check certificate. I do not have any sex work related convictions, and there wasn't a question about occupation on the DBS application form.

I have had previous contact with the police regards harassment, robbery and burglary in which I told them about my sex work.

Mirror can you tell me more about the DBS check? Is this disclosed to other people, like If I apply for a job and they do a DBS check will this be shown to the employer? The police know I’m an escort xx

If an employer requires one, yes they want to see it that's the whole point of the check.

There's been various changes over the years and last time I looked the certificate is sent to you first, also some want to look online (not sure what's revealed there).

You can dispute anything on the certificate, they have managed to get my birth town wrong ::). A police inspector at the UKNSWP conference advised me to do this, unfortunately there's a time frame after the certificate issue in which you can do it. At the time of the advice I was outside that so couldn't do anything about it. Because I know it might come up, plus a few other professional rules (basically if I'm found lying it would be far worse) I do disclose to organisations upfront.

The other advice I've received is that ANY information the police hold on you can come up at ANY time. For instance they might deem it relevant to write it in 'other information' , so there's never any certainty.

I'm an employer (non sex related business) and a part time escort.

When I apply for a DBS check, it is sent to the potential employee; I think this is because only the person named on it can receive it, even when I pay for the check to be done.......but they have to give it to me to check before I can offer them a job.

Hope this helps.
