Being an escort... Do you have to look like a model?
« on: 05 December 2012, 11:40:45 pm »
When ever I see pictures for escorts, they all look like models, male and female. Would you say, you have supermodel looks or are you a normal looking and skills in the bedroom + personality that keep men coming back? I know it's a touchy subject.

If normal looking, how do you compete with "the models" ? I think it's interesting in seeing how people market themselves and become successful.

Each and every individual has what works for them. I wouldn't really like to say because different views. But will say quality service and being friendly of course. There needs to be some attraction from clients side, one told me.

Woofy, If you had been long in this business (sounds to me like you haven;t) you would know that few men like "models". most men like "normal" women with "meat on their bones", a lot of them like middle age women, saggy breasts, big hips etc.. There's even a big market for BBW out there.the women I know are the busiest in the industry don't look like models AT ALL, they're just very good at what they do and know how to boost men'e ego's (cause that's what the job is basically all about). Marketing skills (knowing how to market your "type" and keeping a regular clientele are the most important things, not "looking like a model". I know too many pretty skinny girls out there who are not making a dime cause they think that their models looks are "enough" to keep the guys rolling in. Far from the truth.
Mornings were made for sleeping, wild sex and bacon.

It's more about making that emotional connection with them.

I don't think it hurts to remember that even supermodels don't look like supermodels - what the pictures show is incredibly expensive makeup and lighting, as well as not a little post-production. And 'supermodels' will make up less than one thousandth of a percent of the people in the world, so it's not really realistic to expect an industry with tens of thousands of people in it in the UK alone will contain that many.

I've met a lot of prossies over the years of all shapes, sizes, ages, ethnicities and price ranges from under ?100 ph to over ?300, and I can honestly say (and without being disparaging in any way to the lovely ladies concerned) I don't think I have ever known one who I would describe as a supermodel type. The closest would be a stunningly pretty lady who used to post on here who I won't identify, but like me she's a shortarse ;D.

I will also say the most conventionally attractive people I've met, men as well as women, have consistently been the least sexy. To be fair to Woofy, I think gay men are far pickier and more scathing about physical appearances than straight men, although still nowhere near as much so as women.

I always set my standards too high thought i should be this or that... until i got into escorting then realised that guys like all different looks and shapes. I get many complients and im certainly not a supermodel or very beautiful, I have average looks and big bust and wobbly bits!!! we will never see ourselves as others do,let them enjoy what we have on offer .

Well good to see everyone does their own thing and is good at what they do. No, haven't been doing it long, just about to get started again. Just it has a wide range, seen people selling themselves for ?40, and make me wonder what types of clients they get! I know times are tough and can only guess they don't see themselves as "quality" and offer a no frills service. But I am guessing they are putting themselves at risk.

I do know that BBW is popular. I personally think you can be skinny or BBW and still have an amazing face but I guess your right men want there ego stroked.

Do any of you here, go for cosmetic procedures such as botox, fillers maybe even surgery in hope of keeping yourself looking good, maybe even to attract new clients?

You can be fat, thin, 'pretty', 'ugly', 'average', lop-sided, old, young, tall, short, black, brown, pink, orange - there's a market for us all.

You said "I personally think you can be skinny or BBW and still have an amazing face" - I personally think that one man's poison is another man's sauce. What *IS* an "amazing face"? That to me is similar to the old (and tiresome) line of "you would be so pretty if you lost weight/wasn't so skinny".

I don't consider myself beautiful or pretty, but I've been told different (by non-paying people, lol). I wear no make up, I cleanse with water only, use no pills or potions or cosmetic procedures, I just can't be bothered with any of that, and I get no complaints. The only way *I* am going to increase my client base with effort is if I started offering incalls again, but I just don't have the time to source an ideal flat/room, especially as I can't guarantee which days I can work.

Although this industry is generally based on 'looks', there is a wide range of men's tastes out there, so how *I* look might be perfect to some, or completely ugly to others. I don't mind nor care, as long as the ones who like me book and pay me, and the ones who hate me leave me alone in peace :)

In order to attract new clients you need new pictures, new marketing etc.... NOT botox or fillers. This by itself will not attract new clients, believe me. But with cosmetic enhancement you may see yourself "prettier" and that will give you "a boost of confidence" that will exude in your attitude thus (yes) attracting new clients. But inyecting a liquid that paralizes the muscles in your face will not bring you new clients per se -cause it's something too subtle- unless it comes with "confident new attitude", or new pictures or different website etc... Straight men cannot tell if you have had a shot or two of botox (specially when looking at pics) unless your lips are like huuuge or something like that.

I have known of WG's who got breast implants and that brought them new clients, which kind of makes sense cause going from an B cup to a double DD is something very noticeable.

No, but I would if I earnt more, not to attract new clients but just be happier with myself...

I am pretty well groomed though, have monthly haircuts and colours, nails and waxes, but I'd do all that if I wasn't working so it's by the by.

Woofy, nobody is 'selling themselves', 'selling their bodies' or any of the other tired old radfem party lines. We are selling a service, just like hairdressers, accountants and plumbers do.

We don't have any way of knowing how individuals see themselves - some may have low rates because that's what they're happy earning, or because they want to be very busy and don't like longer appointments, or because the going rate in their area is already low. None of this has anything to do with either the prostitute or the punter he/she sees - the only possible correlation regarding risk is that the person charging lower rates will have to work more to earn the same money and therefore is likely to see a higher number of punters, making the risk that one or more will be dodgy slightly higher. The monetary rate itself is abstract and nothing to do with this, and there is no reason at all to suppose a punter paying ?400 is going to be any better or nicer than one paying ?40.

I do know that BBW is popular. I personally think you can be skinny or BBW and still have an amazing face but I guess your right men want there ego stroked.

I agree that punters (I don't know what 'right men' means?) want their egos stroked, but I don't see what this has got to do with looks? It's not as if they would normally sit about with their nearest and dearest showing them pictures of all the prostitutes they've shagged, is it? And if they did, it's not going to be much of an ego boost once folk start asking how much they had to pay to do it.

As Cat says, an 'amazing face' (or figure, or whatever) means something different to everybody. No matter what you've got or haven't, somebody somewhere will think it's great. And if your service is crap, or you're deceitful, lazy or otherwise unpleasant, it won't matter what or who you look like because they won't return, and rightly so.

Do any of you here, go for cosmetic procedures such as botox, fillers maybe even surgery in hope of keeping yourself looking good, maybe even to attract new clients?

God no. I don't think I've ever seen anybody who looked better for unnecessary surgical interference. Different, but not better.

I think all has been said here, but I will add when I first started I was of the opinion the industry was packed with gorgeous looking model types, as like you said pictures on websites often look like this

I was paranoid I'd be the ugliest girl about when I joined a parlour, due to the fantastic pictures and many comments from punters that such and such a girl was 'stunning, the most beautiful girl I've ever seen' and so on

then when I actually went the girls were all normal looking, some imo prettier than others but seriously this might sound bad none lived up to either the pictures or reviews left by clients, which imo are often heavily exaggerated

I think some of my own reviews are very overtly complimentary too, i think that in general *straight*? men are easily pleased and are happy with a nice girl who provides a good service, I dont really want clients who are all about the 'looks' as they are usually quite shallow and the experience is about so much more than that xxx

Any male reader has always needed to have a secure sense of self image to look at the escort ads in places like QX and Boyz (in the days the latter allowed the 'here's my erection' ones, anyway). Some of them were even genuine - others reckoned that it was easier to use someone else's photos rather than put the effort in at the gym or find a small can of Coke to make their penis look bigger.

Fortunately the answer is no, you don't. The reason is fairly obvious: would you prefer to have a bed date with someone who looked gorgeous but bored, or someone 'normal' but enthusiastic about being there?

If you can find / fake enthusiasm, you'll go further than someone relying on looks alone.
