I don’t know if this “failsafe” but it’s the best I have thought of and currently works for me.
I use PayPal butttttt, I created one in my work name using my work email. I haven’t set up my bank details on it. So I can only receive money and send it to another PayPal.
So when a client pays me via PayPal I then transfer it to my real name PayPal.
If he then tried to retract the money or report me for being a sex worked or whatever, there won’t be much PayPal can do because I would have already transferred the money out and I have no bank details set up on my work one so they can’t recall the money through my bank account.

It’s working so far and I haven’t had any problems but maybe I’m playing with fire.
I’ve never had a bad experience with clients and would say I’m a good judge of character so I would hope I am being quite careful with who I allow to pay me this way but if they seem genuine then it’s a risk I’ll take.

You realise you're basically describing a money laundering set up?

I've been given typo bank details I always double check, usually if the digit is wrong the whole thing bounces back.

:o Never happened before, luckily.  A fair comment. :)

Once was another business who told me they'd accept the loss, but luckily a short while later the payment bounced back automatically.

Another time I used old details for an account which had been closed, that too bounced back (took 5-10 minutes to do so).

Finally I did send to old details for an advertisement, I'd not checked but to be fair to me in the past I'd found communication slow, difficult and often felt as if I was badgering/bothering/the responders had other lives.

In this case it was unrecoverable and the site bore the loss, although I did offer to send 50% because I did have the current details and should have deleted off the old ones. I've since deleted those details and always double check with everyone!

A couple of photographers I use require deposits upfront which I pay by transfer, every time I ask them for their details.

I give them sort code bank account and Liz

I do  not think they see my surname. I think they see Liz.

but my account is share account in HSBC so it has name: ABCD&ABCD where abcd is first letters of my and the other person surname.

when I get their transfer I see their full name or business name

No one ever seen my name, I used Barclays and Halifax. keep few accounts. do not show too much on one. but if your bank see that often people pay you 800 300 500 it is fine.. be self employed as adviser.. and youre happy with that.

As I only pay my webmaster once a year, I only found out last week that you can no longer pay cash into another person's bank account at a branch - boo! So, aside from using bitcoins (no fucking way...) I could only pay him with an online bank transfer. He said even pre-paid credit cards need a name. I trust him, but it is the first time I've had to leave an electronic trail linking my real name to escorting, bar communications with my accountants (the only people I've 'come out' to).

I did pay him from my business account, but it's still identifying. Ho hum.

I guess taking a chance and paying cash by snail mail is the only other option?!

Lloyds is one of the last banks accepting anyone paying cash into anyone who banks with them no questions asked.

Not anymore.  They've stopped it or it comes into effect shortly.  I was in there the other week and they gave me a leaflet on it but I didn't check the day it starts from.

I  have a prospective client who can only pay a deposit by putting cash directly into the bank -  I am going to ask my bank what the policy is but if anyone has an inkling I’d be grateful. I’m with NatWest.

I remember when I tried to deposit cash into Barclays last month they wouldn’t let me without a printed slip from the person taking the deposit.  Is this the norm?

Most banks need the slip now.

Thanks the dude screened himself out by behaving like a passive aggressive entitled twat during comms; but still useful to know.

Not that I’ve ever had a client ask to pay this way before, but I’m guessing the lack of anonymity will put them off this method totally now.

I transferred money through BOS the other day to someone and had to give their real name on the transfer which up until recently when all the changes with the banks came in, you didn’t need to do.

I use circle pay with clients and that saves handing out bank details, it’s really straight forward and the money can be in your bank in under an hour. It’s great. Much prefer that over amazon vouchers.

This was someone wanting to pay cash  directly into a bank rather than a transfer.  Which is no longer anonymous.

Please be careful with circle pay, they are not sexworker friendly.  I know because I used to use  it and my account was shut down with no explanation.  This has happened to many other sexworkers. They added a new T&C a couple of years ago - if they find out you’re a sex worker they will close you down and confiscate your money
