Area client in going into local lockdown tomorrow
« on: 21 September 2020, 03:20:49 pm »
Hi all, I've got a good regular client who lives in an are that is going into local lockdown at 6pm tomorrow and I have a booking with him at 4.15 for two hours. Basically you're not supposed to enter or leave the area after 6pm tomorrow.

I'm really unsure what to do - I've been following the rules to the letter and only recently started working again but I'm only seeing 1/2 clients a week and only seeing regulars.

I really really need the money but I also don't want to break rules What would you do??

Is it an outcall? Are you coming from a different area ? If so that is a difficult one to call.  Even if it’s an incall this is a tricky situation.

I personally would be worried that people would be looking for people coming and going, like in the first phase of lockdown.

If he wasn’t a regular I would say definitely not. I think you can only weigh up the risks and make a decision based on that.

yes it's an outcall. I'll be leaving at the very latest 6.15, more likely 6 as he's nice and always gives me lots of time to get changed after.

Just been reading more about the local lockdown and it does say you can enter and leave for work. So I guess it's in the rules but I have to decide if I want to enter the area. Obviously I won't go to a shop or peril station or anything. Just straight to his house and back.

If you're in the area when the lockdown starts and you don't live there, then they would reasonably have to allow you to leave to go home. As you said, you're there for work, and as you aren't deliberately flouting the rules (as in making bookings in that area during the lockdown knowing full well it's under lockdown measures) etc, I would do the booking.

How is it a local lockdown then if you can leave for work or go there for work? It's not lockdown then.

There's never been a 'lockdown' anywhere in the UK in the true sense of the word - it's just stupid tabloid language which makes headlines look more dramatic to the easily excitable.

Even during the heavier restrictions prople have always been able to travel to and from work if they couldn't work from home, and this sounds like no exception. Personally for the sake of 15 minutes I'd do the outcall :).

I wouldn't panic about it. It will be chaos as usual.

I'm in the NE and we have a "local lockdown"  I checked the guidelines which are a bit all over the place but as best as I can make out the rules (here at least) are explicitly about socializing.

You are allowed to travel in and out of the area for work, and you are allowed to have people in your house/visit others' houses for work purposes as long as all reasonable precautions are taken to minimize the risks.  I wear a mask while out and about, and use hand sanitizer and a non-contact infared thermometer on both of us before the booking begins.

Just have your usual outcall cover story in place, do everything you can to be safe and if you're worried about turning into a pumpkin when the clock strikes 6, maybe ask to bring the booking forward by 30mins?

I hope it goes well and you enjoy your booking!

xx

Thanks all, I'm going to go ahead with it. I'll literally be leaving just after the local lockdown starts and or is permissible to travel in and out of the area for work.

I won't be going into any of the lockdown areas again till their lifted though.
