I have endometriosis which isn’t the same; however I did get heavier and heavier (and more and more painful) periods. I really stuggled with it, now I am starting to go thro the peri menopause and the only good thing about that is less periods!

I can’t advise really, but have you been prescribed anything for the anemia? Are you eating plenty of iron rich foods.  What advice have your doctors given you generally as that will still help.

It may be you need to pace yourself and listen to your body. I used to get tender especially before, during and after my periods which was not very pleasant.

Hopefully someone else more knowledgeable will come along.

I'm sorry to hear your plight. Could you try sensual massage for a while?

Sensual massage is a really good idea. I'm qualified as a masseuse, although haven't practiced for some 10 years i am sure I could find some willing guinea pigs :)

Simply sinful, yes am on iron pills they said will take a month to normalise blood, so maybe will see benefits of that in terms of enthusiasm and energy levels.
Can I ask how you find out aboutif you are  peri menopausal? Would this show in my bloods when checking thyroid etc? I'm in my 30s so not sure this will be the case but you never know.

It is possible to get early menopause certainly from mid 30s on but I believe generally it starts from the mid 40s onwards.  I knew because my period started getting more and more irregular/heavy and then I started skipping them.  There were a few other symptoms too. There is a blood test you can take but to be honest that only shows what your hormone levels are are on that particular day so isn’t awfully helpful.

Try and take it a bit easy until the iron tablets kick in and maybe think about sensual  massage  in the meantime

I suffered with very heavy painful periods for decades, then developed fibroids and overian cysts, which obviously made things worse.  It made working very difficult, as I was drained all the time, not to mention my periods were very irrecgular.  I could sometimes come on twice in one month, and my periods lasted anything between 7 and 13 days.  I was able to have the fibroids removed, but it didn't do a great deal in lessening my periods. The dr's insisted I try every contraceptive, but nothing worked, so for the first 5 years of doing this job, I was having to work round my periods and only offer massages.  Finally after many years I was able to get a hystorectomy (I didn't have my overies removed though, as the dr deamed I was too young to go through the menopause at 43).  That was 3 years ago this Feb, and it's been a God send.  I feel I have my life back.
A hystorectomy isn't for everyone  There are other methods out there to stop your periods, but it's worth talking to your dr, and looking into a more permenant solution if you dont want kids, and you're not too young.  They won't offer such things if you're only in your 20's.
