Agency/new escorts
« on: 31 August 2008, 08:40:19 pm »
Hi, I am just dipping my toe in, how do agencies feel about taking on new escorts who have no previous working experience?  I am 20, and obviously have to start somewhere and would prefer (at least initially) to work in an agency.
I would rather not send pics prior to some sort of interview, is this reasonable?  I don't really have any that are suitable anyway.  If I ring an agency, will this an interview in person be the protocol?
Is it an asset to be really well educated, ie can I milk this or is it of minimal benefit?
Also, who decides the fee (purely agency?) and how much work is reasonable to expect.  What working hours  and how many are 'the norm'-how flexible will they be on this.
Hope I am not trawling over old ground (this website has proved useful) but forewarned is forearmed.

No problem at all. It's common for girls to join an agency for just a few months before either going independent or quitting all together, so they're used to it. They'll probably get you some work by marketing your newness to their regulars.

I don't know how agencies feel about seeing a picture before giving you an interview, but I don't think you should worry about it too much if they want one. A normal clothed picture won't embarrass you and should be enough for them.

Not all agencies do interviews in person, but the good ones do.

Men like all sorts of things. Some are intimidated by educated women but others really appreciate it.

Some agencies set the fees, some allow you to set them.

I can't say much about how much work to expect, but bear in mind that things are a bit slow with the current economic situation. School holidays are almost over though, so that'll help.

I'm not sure if any agencies require a minimum number of shifts, but they should be pretty flexible about when you work. They'll either ask you to do the same shifts every week, or let them know when you're available. I wouldn't expect them to make you agree to any shifts.

Some agencies require experience, others don't.  Be wary of any advice they may give if you are new, because it is not always good.  Many agencies require pics before they will interview, but if you feel strongly otherwise, stand your ground.  Don't send pictures or an application without talking to the agency first, if only to confirm that they exist. Don't work with an agency that doesn't want to meet you.

Education is a double edged sword.  On one hand, many clients want reassurance that you are not going to end every sentence with "innit." Conversational skill are an excellent way to ensure a long booking, but conversation should be on the client's terms.  However, giving away too much info on this can reveal your identity.   It can also make you look unapproachable to some clients; many of my clients are not necessarily what one might call educated, but are fantastic and lucrative.  Beware of any client who compliments you on your intellect, or any other personal qualities e.g. being nice, caring, thoughtful etc.  Obviously smile and say thank you, as the compliment may be genuine. However,  all of my clients who have wanted things they shouldn't (bareback, my real name, a relationship) have made these sorts of comments.

If you work full time for an agency, you should expect to earn a living.  If the agency cannot earn you a living, they owe it to you to be honest.  Agencies can give you a good idea of when to expect calls; it varies by area.  You are self-employed and can work whenever you want and with as many agencies as you want, and anyone who tells you otherwise is not someone you want to work with.  This is, however, a business trasaction and you should work when you say you are working.

Hi there!
I started at 21, and an agency has been perfect for me. When I was starting out I contacted 3 seperate ones, one never replied, one I sen a head shot to on request and one rang me up at a time i requested, had a chat and we arranged to meet up for more of a chat than an interview. I chose the latter one!
If they want to meet you it probably means they want to look at you, chat, see what u like, which means they have standards for their girls, and hence for their clients.

I would say that ur educated, yeah, a couple of the girls profiles at mine state they are degree or masters educated.

My agency decide the fees, and their commission. For what I get from mine, its very reasonable, because I dont deal with security or apartments or anything like that. I think 30% is quite good for what they do. As long as you personally feel that what you get for what you do is fair then everyones happy.

Some will ask you to work a minimum number of shifts, maybe dictating you have to do a friday or saturday. Mine doesnt. Working hours as mentioned do vary, mine is 9am - 12pm some do later. Some girls at mine are available only 10 hrs a week, some fulltime. Its a good question to ask though wen u go for an interview as it all depends on the agency.

I can only give advice really on my own personal experience, and I know that Im with a good one so Im lucky I guess! Best of luck though, and dont be handing any money over before you earn any! ;)

thanks a lot, very helpful.  One more question-does the agency need to know my real name?

In practice, no, they don't. They should understand if you don't want to give it.

It's actually illegal for someone to 'cause or incite another person to become a prostitute' in the expectation of gain, so some agencies may be nervous about saying 'no experience required'. In practice (again) they will probably be more concerned that you understand that clients expect sex and it's not just being paid piles of money for sitting there and chatting.

The thing to always keep in mind is that agencies need escorts a lot more than escorts need agencies, so don't take any crap.
