Title: Agency wants bank details
Post by: DanFTM on 27 July 2014, 11:12:33 am
Hi, I am in touch with a person running an agency in my area, and we are potentially meeting this afternoon.  They state that the fees are paid directly into my bank account after they take their commission - which suggests that they will want my bank details!  Is this legit?  Also, they are requesting a 40 pound registration fee...  Any advice?  Avoid like the plague, or go for it if they seem alright?  I don't want to have to travel to the appointment if it's going to be a scam!

It's low for a scam, but absolutely do not do this - as well as the way that no agency should charge a registration fee, you want cash in your hand before any clothes come off.

This sounds more like a freebie hunter (actually, you'd pay him / his mate) than a scam, because you cannot trust them to pay you anything afterwards.

Even legit-as-they-can-be-given-that-they're-illegal agencies have no business with your bank details or other personal info - have a search here for more.

Fantastic, thanks - I figured it was low, but it was the bank details part that really worried me! x

Definitely don't touch, same with agencies demanding passport copies. None of their business.
