Agency question from newbie,bit confused!
« on: 15 July 2008, 10:35:07 am »
Hello all

I am new to the forum and wondered if anyone could give me their thoughts/advice on the following as I'm not quite sure what to think.

I have recently joined an escort agency,at the interview the agency owner seemed like a very nice and professional lady and very approachable.
I have given her my availability for the week and she has added me to the website calender, however she has not put any profile on website for me or mentioned anywhere that i have joined the agency or put any details about me up for potential clients to see!

I have arranged a photoshoot with her in the next week as i do not have any photos yet,i have been asked to pay towards the photos (40 pounds) which i have agreed to,however i have since read that an agency should not ask new ladies to pay towards photoshoots.

I am rather confused and would welcome peoples opinions,i probably should speak to the agency owner but i am reluctant in case she thinks i am pestering her, silly of me probably i know.

Others will probably be able to answer your queries better than i can, but a couple of things

dont be afraid to ask, who cares what she thinks, your going to be working for her, im sure she would prefer you to be happy, and if that means asking loads of questions, so be it

now not adding your profile etc, a cpl of possible reasons:

her webmaster hasnt got around to it yet, I do a this sort of thing for a couple of agencies, and sometimes cant do things immediatley

she is just selling you by phone for now until she is sure your happy, no reflection on you, but many ladies think this industry is a good idea until it comes down to it, then get cold feet, so its time wasted on the website side

Hi fallingstar

When I joined my agency my availability was put up before anything else. She then asked me to write a few things about myself, which she reworded herself. As soon as the profile was written she then advertised me on the site, so maybe shes planning to do that with you.

As for the photos, mine were free, but 40 quid sounds ok. I also have to pay for mine now, to be retaken every few months. Do u know if u have the rights to the photos or will they be the agencies?

As the previous post mentioned she could be selling you over the phone, so maybe wait a week see if u get bookings.

good luck

We say that you shouldn't pay for anything before you get paid yourself because a lot of people pose as agencies, but they're just scams that take your money. How did you find this agency? If it's established (you know some girls who've worked for it, or you've seen some client reviews for it) than she's unlikely to bother ripping you off for ?40. If you're not sure, you could ask how she feels about you sorting out the photos yourself. She might have concerns about the quality, but if she's open to the idea than she's probably more interested in the photos than the money. You could also ask if it's possible to pay for the photos along with her fee for your first booking.

Ask about the rights to the photos. I don't think it's fair to ask you to pay if you're not going to get copies that you can use yourself, but if you are then ?40 isn't much to pay for photos.

Hi Ladies

Thanks for your advice,i asked the agency owner as suggested and she wants the photos doing before putting up a profile for me,so at least now i know.

Thanks for your tip about the rights to the photos anika mae :),it didn't even occur to me to ask until you mentioned it!

So hopefully i should have some nice new photos and a profile by next week, will keep you all posted

Absolutely - you want to be sure that you have control over photos of you. Especially ones showing your face.

Hi Everyone

Sorry to keep banging on about this topic but everyone seems so kind here and helpful here and ive got nobody else to turn to about it :(

Basically my photoshoot is supposed to be happening tomorrow but ive still not heard from agency owner regarding the time or address i have to go to,the area is a long bus ride and metro journey from mine  so i could have done with a bit more forewarning! I dont know if i should contact owner again but she did say she would let me know,im baffled :-\

Also my availability has been up on website for a few days now and ive had no bookings at all, perhaps business is just slow at the minute but im finding it quite disappointing so far!

I did work for another agency briefly a few years back (dont know if i mentioned that on other posts) and had bookings within the first week and really good feedback so when i compare my situation then to my one now it doesnt seem so good.

I just feel a bit deflated really as im fully prepared to give my all to the job and the agency that represents me,maybe i am expecting too much too soon or perhaps i should cut my ties with this agency and look to someone else to represent me?

What do you all think? any advice would be very much appreciated cos i really dont know what to do for the best!
