Been away for a week, came back this morning and found a slip in the door from police, saying they have investigation ongoing that I may be a victim of crime

Rang up but they had no record of anything.  They said they would get back to me.  Is this a client/idiot winding me ?up? Or Someone reported me as trafficked???

I only see about 3 clients a day, spread out through out the day, when at my incall flat, so not much foot traffic.

Has anyone else had this kind of thing ...ever?????

Hmmmm, have you ever reported anything at all?If you report anything they can sometimes follow it up months later with a 'victim' letter.

I very much doubt they'd put an unsolicited letter through your door. Could be a wind up, did it have your name on it?

If it's genuine, it'll have contact details on it - for all you know there could have been burglaries in the area or something. Just ring them up and ask - if it's a hoax then they'll tell you so, and either way they'll be far more help than any of us can :).

*IF* it IS the police, and you work alone, then you have nothing to worry about, you're not breaking any laws. However, while you were away, perhaps someone tried to break in and the neighbours called the police, or something else involving a criminal on/near your property.

If it's not the police, then yes, it's someone playing silly buggers.

If it was from the police it would be on official headed paper, not just a slip of plain paper, x
If something is not perceived it doesn't exist.

Hi sugar, I think you've answered the question here.  It's easy to say just forget about it as I know it would play on my mind but try to move on and ignore it.

It was on a plain piece of paper, roughly torn across. Typed out wording, with my flat number scribbled along the top.

I did ring police, they have no record of the reference number issued on the paper.  They said it would be on system, but it's not there.   Also there  is no heading.  Just a rectangular piece of paper.   Im guessing im just worrying over some pranksters.

Thanks for replies everyone, you have calmed me down slightly lol.

Make sure you hold on  to that piece of paper just in case you receive anymore (hopefully not), you can hand them to the police if needed.

I am not an absolute expert on this but I am sure that whenever the police call round and nobody is there, they leave a card with your name (if they have it),  which police station it was and it will tell you which department it was that was looking for you with the phone number etc and it will also have the police badge emblem thing on the top corner.

I had a police card put through my door last week as I didn't answer but it was for the previous tenants driving offence. In my last flat I had the same thing and I can't remember exactly what it was for, it wasn't a driving offence though and it did say which department it was, I just can't remember.

I wouldn't worry about this too much especially if they have no known record.

However if someone is messing with you then take extra care with your vetting process.

Sounds like a possible neighbour trying to put the spooks in you. Police wouldnt shove a note under the door.

It's someone trying to wind you up, probably a previous client or a neighbour.

'The Ian formerly known as SW5'. What they said: "Indispensable", "You are our best resource", and (hours later!) "I'm afraid that you're being made redundant..."

Recently I fell out with my family so I ignored there calls so they called the police to say I was missing I received loads of private calls they left voice mails I either got a text to say some one has reported a concern for you welfare please call  so I called them to say I was ok that was,nt good enough for them so they knocked on my door at 1am to check I was ok . So it sounds like a wind up to me other wise they would keep bugging you or they would of left a number and a code to call them with.

They do but it is always on police headed paper or on the back of their own business card which would have the officers name and phone number on it.  Normally a mobile number you can call them directly on

However this sounds like your neighbour or neighbours know what is going on and is trying to spook you so you stop working from there.  be very careful as their next step will probably be to either ring the police saying there is a brothel (putting off clients as they will pop round a few times) or they will ring or write to either your landlord or the management company of the property.

Whilst it is not illegal you will find it will be against your tenancy agreement as they nearly all have a working from home or morality clause in the.  If you break the rules of your tenancy they can get rid of you very easily
