Agency owners won't meet me?
« on: 27 April 2014, 08:39:34 pm »
Hi,

I'm very new to this and looking to get started as soon as possible. I'm starting my master's this September and I'd like to make some money until then. I've contacted several agencies and heard back from one so far. I just spoke to one of the people who run it on the phone and asked them if it was possible to meet someone to discuss the details, but they said they don't meet the girls in person. However, they allocate drivers for each booking (the main reason why I was interested in this agency) so I'll obviously meet the drivers. I'd like to know if this is normal and something that often happens. Are they just trying to be discreet? Also, they just sent me the agreement and it says that they charge 50% commission. Based on my research I thought this was going to be around 30%. Do many agencies charge this much commission?
I know that most of you on here work independently but I'd feel much safer working with an agency first.
Thank you so much for your help in advance.

50% is a lot, but I guess it's that because they're providing drivers. Don't be fooled that agencies provide security. By the time they realise something is wrong it'd be too late anyway. I heard of an incident where an escort ended up jumping out of a window to get away from a client, and the driver the agency provided driven off when he was aware there was bother going on! Agencies would be reluctant to inform the police of goings on because what they do isn't legal. There as one case where an agency involved police because of threats being made towards their escorts, and they were closed down shortly afterwards - this was a well regarded agency that represented mainly english ladies.

For your own safety do consider going independent and finding ladies in your local area to buddy with. This site offers fantastic guidance on how to get started. If you are keen on joining an agency I hope you get recommended a good one in your area. In my experience all my agencies have met with me before putting me on their website. Otherwise how would they know you really are the person in the photos? Plus they should want to meet you to see that you're a confident person and clearly comfortable with your decision to be an escort x

If you're totally brand new to escorting and want to get started in a way where you'll feel safe, you may want to consider a massage parlour. The money per booking isn't that great but if it's a good parlour you can make a lot of money by the end of the day. It's much safer than an agency. Ideally, you work independently but that's maybe more than you're ready for to start.

Yes, it says something about the agency that they're not prepared to meet you, and it's not good.

For 50%, I'd be expecting an incall location too, but things can vary. Work out what you'd actually be taking home, and ask 'Is that enough?'

Agency work is not safer: they have a vested interest in sending you to anyone with the money. This can include people who other workers refuse to see again - it's not the owners in the room. Do have a look here for a lot more reasons why agency work is not recommended, even though it does work for some.
'The Ian formerly known as SW5'. What they said: "Indispensable", "You are our best resource", and (hours later!) "I'm afraid that you're being made redundant..."

Hmmm, not wanting to meet you sounds a bit dodgy to me, do they even get your photos done?

I pay 30% commission, met the owner directly who also deals with our booking and my photos for the site, plus high standard incall apartment and a phone security buddy. I personally wouldn't touch the deal you've been offered with a barge pole, it sounds very shady and I wouldn't feel safe being driven around willy-nilly God knows where to God knows who by someone who'll drive off immediately and not care if I ever show up again!

I think it's not enough. I would probably feel exploited.

I've done some modelling before so I have pictures already, but I don't think they would help with it anyway.

Thank you all so much for your replies! This forum is extremely useful, I have no idea where I'd have turned without it.
I've decided to apply to/wait to hear back from other agencies, and I'll also try to look for someone to buddy with in the meantime. I guess I have enough time to try a bit of everything over the summer and decide what works best for me. I'll have a look at massage parlours as well.

Thanks again xx

When I first started out, I worked for a few established london agencies. Most of them sent a representative of the agency to meet me, offered drivers, some of them had incall flats to work from and all of them were 30% commission.

50% is too much for a agency to take.......just imagine! If you make ?1000 in 1 week, your agency will take half.  So you only make ?500 for seeing all those men....not worth giving all that effort in my opinion.

Why dont you just do a day or two a week in a london incall place. They dont take 50% if you find the right one so you can walk away with about 600 a day-ish depending on yourself plus it means you have all your bookings coming in between set hours on a set day so you know where you are regarding your schedule x

This isn't normal from my experience.
I've worked for quite a few agencies in Leeds and there was only one where I didn't meet the owner and that agency had drivers much the same, however it ended up being a "party" (drugs) agency and they've recently accidentally hired two 15 year olds *shudder* because it was the drivers interviewing and they didn't think to ask for ID.
I would avoid working for any agency that the owners "hide" themselves from you, as it could mean something dodgy is going on.
50% is a large amount of commission, most of the time it's between 30-40%. I wouldn't be happy giving half my earnings away, you need to ask yourself if you are. But I suppose it depends on the prices they are charging.
If you need any help, feel free to PM me. xxx

Thank you for all the useful responses once again!

I've been wondering if anyone could PM me any good Central London parlours? I'd be very grateful. I've found some on Google already, just looking for some recommendations. I didn't want to start a new thread for this.
