Do you use the contraceptive pill? I used to get a weird smell towards the end of my period with one of those brands. I can't remember which hormonal type one it was,  as over 10 yrs ago. It did very weird things to my uterus discharge.

Hi girls, I'm new to the forum having only discovered it today and thank god I have!

I've worked in the industry for the past few months having used to work in the industry  some years ago and having a break for a few years.

My problem is I seem to always get BV and thrush like 10 days or so before my periods which is really annoying and affects my work(or therefore lack of it) as I have to take time out to Sort it out. Another girl said she uses one (BV gel thingy) every few days to keep things balanced down below which I have tried with no luck! I've read that lube, latex, sex etc makes you a lot more susceptible to BV and thrush.  Does anyone else have the same problem and if so what do you do to prevent it?

I was really prone to getting thrush, it was so bad my doctor referred me to a actual thrush clinic. I told the doctor at the clinic about my job and he said it obviously dosent help with not being naturally relaxed, lubes, condoms, washing all the time etc. He advised me on some lubes to stay clear from! stay away from durex and ky kelly. He gave me loads of sachets of mates lube and I buy a ph balanced lube from ann summers and I have really noticed a difference! I hardly ever get thrush now. I use pasante and mates condoms and for washing stay away from femfresh! thats the worst one to use for your vagina. I use a cansteen wash for cleaning and for shaving I do use normal shower gels but im just really careful about getting it inside. inbetween clients I just wash with the cansteen because washing like 3 or 4+ times a day on my vagina with showergel will just mess up my ph levels. For Bv you can buy these gels you insert up you for 2/3 days after your period as your period can make your ph levels off balance to. Hope this helps x

Thanks Layla90.  I have used the pessirie gel things but I read they can sometimes do more harm then good so I have bought a alternative one off Amazon. I will defo try those brands you mentioned once my nether region is ready to be back in action. I had a embarrassing moment once when a client actually stopped having sex and pulled a face asking if Ive had a busy day because I smelt!! :o I was quite embarrassed as he was the first client I had seen that day and I was unaware that I smelt untill we started having sex and even then I wasn't sure if it was me or something in his flat. :-\  I've always been prone to BV but only started getting thrush when I went into SW. I have read also that before and after periods can change the PH causing BV and thrush so I've ordered some pH sticks so I can check regularly and I will also start using live yogurt and probiotics to hopefully keep it at bay.

You poor thing, I hope you get sorted. Some men are very tough, I think because they pay they think they can do what they like. Agree with poster who suggested advertising gentle GFE. There is a lady near me who advertised doing handjobs only and because she is so niche men seen keen on visiting her and paying £45 for half hour. So might be something to consider while you allow antibiotics to work? Take care x

Thanks Glamescort.  I have considered just doing hand jobs a blow and go service or some other type of service that doesn't involve vaginal sex whilst I'm on the mend and when it's that time of the month. I've took a lot of advice from this thread so going forward there are some things I will be changing.
