So, it's the end of another tax year and reviewing my expenses I can't help but notice how much I have spent on work things!

My expenses for the year are currently £22k, and there is still a week left, in which time my rent is due. That's so much! My rent and overhead bills are quite high but not less than if I were using hotels each week, so I justify that cost. I have only toured twice this year so I don't really have additional costs in relation to that, and I loathe the thought of touring and spending yet more money on accommodation and travel.

But other things, like outfits, equipment, toys, consumables (condom, lubes, wipes), travel costs etc are far more than what I would like. These expenses have totaled circa £7k.

How much do you allocate for these expenses on an annual basis? Am I missing a trick here? I'd like to get on the right foot for the next financial year.

I more or less have all the outfits, basques, ho frocks, shoes, boots, toys and hardware I need, they don't really wear out or go out of fashion. Condoms, lube free from SW clinic. I might buy 2-3 sexy work clothes from TKmax a year if they're unusual with good reductions (£80). A couple lipsticks (£20), some body sprays (£30) and few bottles of hand santitizer (£15) a year. One wholesale box of 9 disposable couch rolls (£20)  and 1 wholesale box of 1000 disposable plastic gloves (£20). Roughly £200 a year

Travel- I walk to my office for incalls. Outcalls I walk up to 45 mins each way for the fresh. Hate spending on tubes rather treat myself.

I just had a quick look and I have spent £42.03 on work clothes this year and most of that was hosiery (and I think there's a couple more pairs of stockings to go on so about another tenner). But I don't wear 'outfits' or buy toys or equipment, and I expect the things I buy to last (or be extremely cheap). I've had my three pairs of work shoes for ten years each, or near enough.

Condoms/disposables etc were just short of £500, which is about what I expected :)

I'm low-volume, so not much. I tend to do one big Freedoms shop order of condoms per year and hardly ever use lube (for PIV), so no more than 100 quid a year on those. Then I'd say I buy a handful of non-expensive lingerie sets, babydolls etc. and dresses per year, and a few pairs of stockings. My accountant's fees and mobile are probably my biggest outgoings. Off the top of my head I'd say definitely less than 2k per year, and probably under 1.5k.

I too am lowish volume but do buy a lot of lingerie, partly because I've changed sizes a lot and like everything to fit properly, and I like to provide variety for clients. I probably spend £1000 per year on stockings, lingerie, clothing specifically for work although like Amy shoes last a long time (but once again I like a variety to go with lots of different dresses, lingerie etc.). I do however charity shop a lot partly because my location limits access to big name shops, and different ranges, partly because I love the variety. I'm never going to be shoe-horned into whatever is currently 'fashionable'.

My biggest expenses are probably transport, advertising and hotels.

I think the biggest expense is hotels for tours and rail tickets
Everythin else
Shellac nails plus infill £ 25.00 per month .
Stockings  £20.00 per 2 monthly
Hair blowdry £25 weekly
Lingerie £ 60.00 approx every 3 -5 months
I now need new sex toys plus towels .budget 50.00
soft drinks +bottled water  approx  £6.00 per month
I've stopped waxing and saved 50.00 per month

My hotel expenses are about the same as yours. I'm considering taking a work flat purely to cut down on expenses (and travel time.)

In 2018 my cosmetics/toiletries case was stolen in Glasgow and it took me all of £80 to replace it. I'm not sure if that makes me a cheapskate or a winner?

Yes, even though my rent is high, at least I know I have the place whenever I want. I looked at cheaper places but they were awful and not worth tje few hundred quid less per month.

I just bought all my condoms, lube, disposable gloves in bulk from amazon for around £80 so that should last 6 months or so. I also bought a MASSIVE 5l bottle of shower gel to refill the bottle instead of £1 a bottle. It all adds up!

My biggest cost is marketing and lingerie. No real way around that I suppose.

Can you claim for nails and waxing?
My accountant needs to know if that's the case!

I asked my accountant this too, same with makeup - in my opinion, I'd never wear makeup if I wasn't working and I certainly wouldn't pay £50 every 10 days for my Mani / pedi. He never did get back to me on that question. I don't claim for either of these things.

Yes but you'll only know if it's acceptable if you are investigated, just because someone include those in their expenses doesn't mean it would stand up if they asked for a more detailed breakdown.

I once included a foundation I bought specifically for a photo shoot the photographer specifically asked me to use a very matt variety.

Yes I have my nails done, and hair trimmed but those nails are with me outside of work life and photoshoots.

The stipulation is solely in pursuit of trade.

Make up may be arguable if you have a separate bag which you never use in personal life. I'm not willing to have a separate bag especially because make up lasts so long, only just finished a ten year old lip gloss.

Once opened makeup just like perfume, has a use by date and can go off. I throw out cosmetics I have had more than a couple of years and not used up.

I would not claim expenses for any kinds of cosmetics or beauty/hair treatments as they are not essential for my work but others obviously do.

The 'wholly and exclusively' rule applies so I tend to err on the side of caution. Your accountant can put them on as expenses but ultimately he's only following your instructions  :)

I work as High End companion, Independent.

- incoming money 6-8k .. some months 9k/mo 80k/year

- from time to time I buy skyn 144 non latex condoms and I have victoria secret stockings and suspenders (the same from years as its rare people ask  for it, but I have it) 1x 2x a year 30 pound

- my car main tool - car insurance , road tax, fuel - I do outcalls only, I am not in London! 200/mo

- advert viva 145 twice a month, clicking multirepost often

- I advertise "mild" no anal no outfits  no rude advertising, only GFE and DINNER DATES as my sponsors would not accpet that, they would not (text) call me again

- I spend on make up and skincare - I found my favorite brands, MUFE, URBAN DECAY, TOO FACED,  brushes from MAC mascara, it's up to you how much you spend on make up but I have to look high end and skin like make up with pretty blend, so I did spend for  sure about 3k for that, many of those items will stay for years, I used promotions and cashback - this would be your friend, completesavings!

- I spend on botox fillers but only with good surgeon who knows how to use kanula

- I have many high quality outfits, but because of lower volume of my work I can have them for longer (over years) also I have many so I use them less often :) sometimes even two pairs of my favorite shoes, KURT GIGER, MICHAEL KORS, CARVELLA I do not have to go in high heel to look High End, people do not like to be seen with escorts so we cannot look like one of them.

So for my life rent family I need 2k to survive. maybe 1k I spend to spoil our look and living.. all other money is saved money.. but I am sure we all have an idea how to spend them :)

I'm writing down each pound I earned (I use app)
to monitore my self to be SYSTEMATIC in what I do.
To keep my self at least on 4-5k a month income.
