Oh gosh, it's not good.
It's really difficult in Spain from what you're saying.
I don't know how it looks in Barcelona, but don't be too discouraged by top positions on Google taken by the agencies.
There are things you can do to be on top of Google:
- Google AdWords (haven't tried it personally)
- Google Business (haven't tried it either, but it will put you on Google maps)
- SEO:
1) Your website should load fast (good hosting, pictures not too big), have a clear structure and be responsive (optimised for mobiles, tablets).
2) Good, long content with relevant keywords and interesting enough for people to stay long on your pages and come back.
It's basically a lot of good copywriting.
You can have separate pages for Barcelona, Madrid, London, every location that you want to rank for.
Writing especially long pages can be such a chore, for me even writing a short blog post is like shitting razor blades... Painful!
I prefer to do all by myself but it's easier with hiring a copywriter.
It's a lot of work.
Oh, and backlinks!
Another thing I would definitely recommend is a newsletter. (In my experience it's actually really hard to get people to subscribe though.)
And a Telegram channel.
