I use a stairgate to keep my pugs where I want them. And any programme with David Attenborough keeps them occupied lol

Like Busty, I have stairgates to keep my little one where she needs to be and I’ve also spent a fair bit of time getting her used to spending time without me during the day - leaving her in the living room and going upstairs for a while.  My dog is super needy as well and would spend all day attached to me if she could, but after a while she got the idea she has to have some time alone when I’m working. Good luck, hope you can calm her

Dogs aren’t hyper and naughty, it’s lack of training

I’m lucky my dog is very quiet I forget she’s here. Are you walking them often? Sometimes if you don’t they have more energy and won’t chill out.

Exactly, although if she's a rescue there could be other things going on - I could never have worked with my old dog in the house as he was afraid of strangers and it would have been extremely distressing for him. Some dogs are clingier than others, but you need to sort out a situation where they can't be separated from you or you'll have no end of problems. Obviously that isn't a matter for this board :).

I agree with Escortx too - it sounds as if she isn't being exercised enough and I would make sure she has a long walk before bookings to wear her out a bit. If she's just barking when punters arrive and then settling down I don't think that's any bad thing and it lets them know she's there if any are up to no good.

Has anyone had any issue from clients when it comes to having a dog around?
The lowest points of this pandemic make me consider working around my dog but ... eek. So many possible issues.

I’d put it on your profile that there is a dog just incase someone has allergies. I can’t really think of another reason someone would have an issue with it  :)

Can you give me some tips on how else to occupy my dog when I have clients cos sometimes she barks likes crazy and wants to get in the room. She has LOADS of toys and bones LICKY may and I always but she’s just hyper and naughty.

If she’s sensitive to people coming in and out of the home and that alerts her to bark, you can try playing YouTube on the tv constantly. Choose videos such as doorbell desensitizing, kids arriving home etc. she will get used to the sounds of people entering the home that she can’t see. My dog is from Romania and wouldn’t accept a collar a few months ago so I’ve done a lot of se sensitizing. Also you need to take her out 5 times a day when in an apartment. Set an alarm and set aside 20 minute intervals to take her out for a brisk walk around the block.  Good luck.

I have a v large dog a mastiff who is very protective and known for their security.
I basically played Spotify up loud and secured the kitchen door, she only barked if the music stopped. One day she did escape to find a naked man on the sofa and another lady friend of mine...it was pretty hysterical, not sure who was more shocked, the client or the dog seeing naked man hahaha

Good job she didn't try to eat his sausage!  :D

I have a dog who is very good. Been working a while though and she has gotten used to people in our house now. As long as I pick her up when I answer the door she doesn't bark at all and her breed is known for being a bit yappy.

I think even if she was taken for long walks she'd still bark. I think she just wants to be with you. How about giving her some big meaty bones when you're busy. Make sure she's a little hungry and gnawing on them might help.

Sorry know off topic but I used to take my 21 year old cat to work on my work days (at the flat). Too bad if any men were allergic to her haha.
