Hi,

A former working girl friend of mine with an 8mth old baby wants to return to work but not willing to consider working close to home so will need to tour. Her plan is ideally to work 7 days a month.
Can anyone offer any good advice on childcare options? She has considered an Au pair to travel with her.

I have found great babysitters on childcare.co.uk site. Only thing is I rely on my kids being able to tell me if something isnt right or they dont like something. You cant do that with a baby. If i had a baby i would need someone with very good references /or friend /family i could trust.

Yes, thats what she is concerned with.
She has thought about an Aupair. Next question is how to work out the logistics if she takes an aupair with her on tour. Where does the aupair an baby go when she has clients? 

She would have to book 2 rooms. At this time of year it wouldn't be fair to say "Just make yourself scarce for the next 8 hours" and expect her to just take the baby out all day.

Here's an idea:
Book a family/twin room at a cheap hotel for her, the au pair and the baby to sleep at for the week. Hotel doesn't need to be workable.
Then book day rooms at workable hotels in the same city so she can work approx 9am-5pm, then go "home" to the baby.
That would probably work out cheaper than booking 2 rooms.

I would be terrified to leave my child with an au pair to be honest because they are a complete stranger. Is there no way her mum or a family member can look after the baby? Seems like a much better option.
