Advertising Websites
« on: 16 May 2011, 01:42:41 am »
Aside from AdultWork (which I am sceptical about whether it would be suitable for me), from what I've read the best websites to advertise on are Punternet and Captain 69?

I did read that London Belles was another good one, but it's a bit of a minefield to navigate as there are so many.

How many websites do you advertise on, and how much do you spend a month?

I think most people give AW a go - it is free, for starters and it's easy enough to set up a profile and get started. If you want to use any of the promotional features it starts costing money, but for relatively inexpensive things like phone number display a chargeable private gallery should cover it (this doesn't mean you have to have porno pics or show your face if you don't want to). I don't get much from it, but if I was just starting off I would say it's a helpful place to drum up some trade and get a bit of feedback; there are all manner of idiots and timewasters on it as well as the grotesquerie of some of the profiles (which is why some people are snobby about it), but there are twats everywhere else too, and at least on AW they tend to be easy to spot.

As far as other sites go, assuming you have a website I would definitely recommend UK Belles/London Belles as well as Punterlink, Select An Escort and Puntingzone (all free) and Punternet - you don't need a website for PN and a plain line ad (a bit like a newspaper ad) is ?15 a month with a Deluxe ad at ?30, which I have. Apart from the ?1 a day phone number thing on AW which I use maybe two or three weeks of the month to show my tour ads I don't spend anything else unless it's for a specific event or visit somewhere - I might spend an extra ?50-?100 a month on things like Eros (London) or Escort Scotland etc etc. It's a lot cheaper online than the newspaper ad days when I used to spend a minimum of ?50-80 a week even just for a couple :D.

I have never had more than a handful of website hits from Captain69, and that was only when I had a review on there but I think it's probably better for London. You could also try Cherry Girls but it's expensive (?100 per month) and the word around the campfire would suggest that it isn't as good as it used to be, but I daresay some London-based ladies might be able to add to that. Most of my business comes directly from my site, and I always make sure it, my pictures and my blog are up to date and regularly refreshed - this is really important (and also applies to ads like AW; there's no point just throwing money at something and expecting the ??? to roll in if your ads look tired and your last blog entry was in January.

Hope this helps  :). You will also find a lot of threads about this if you type 'Advertising' into the Search box at the top.

This is one reason why it's not difficult to stand out there though!
'The Ian formerly known as SW5'. What they said: "Indispensable", "You are our best resource", and (hours later!) "I'm afraid that you're being made redundant..."

I tried CherryGirls recently-ish (maybe 5-6 months ago now?) and was very disappointed; the costs were astronomical and all I got from there were a few timewastery calls and emails. Not even a large volume of timewasters! Just one or two - and they would usually mention CherryGirls in their call, as I think that's suggested by the site. Anyway, I thought the costs were mental considering how useless the ad was, but perhaps because my rates are too 'cheap' to go into their High Class section (and I wasn't adding another ?200 to the overall costs to get into the "Brunette" section or "Student" section) maybe that's why I didn't get much attention?

Also, I must note that when I went into the office to meet the site owner and his 'team' (there are at least two guys and one lady, who I never did meet, working for CherryGirls) so they could 'verify' me, he really did try to push me to sign up for some kind of "special site membership" where I'd be heavily promoted to some "special clients" (who would be any bloody person who paid a subscription fee to CG, in fact) to whom I'd be expected to offer some "special discounts". So basically, this brilliant idea would leave me earning less money while meeting a bunch of entitled gits, while CherryGirls earned a lovely fee for arranging this wonderful plan. I obviously nodded along, praised both blokes for their business acumen, and got the hell out of there ASAP never to speak to them again (especially as I wasn't going to be paying for another month on their site, especially as they put my website link in wrong on the ad they made for me and didn't rectify it for ages). But I'm sure other people have had differing experiences with them; that's just my personal one.

I must emphasise here the complete randomness of the industry in terms of advertising success - like someone else said in another thread, you could have two identical twin escorts in the same town doing the same advertising, and one would probably get a completely different response from the ads than the other. You can never fully predict what'll happen after you pay your ?2, ?30 or ?100+, so to be honest, the best thing to do is check out other escorts' sites (they'll often have banner ads returning links with the sites they're listed on) to find out what's popular, and do some careful experimenting yourself.

Most of my business comes directly from my site, and I always make sure it, my pictures and my blog are up to date and regularly refreshed - this is really important (and also applies to ads like AW; there's no point just throwing money at something and expecting the ??? to roll in if your ads look tired and your last blog entry was in January.

Just wanted to second this! Keep your site/blog/pics really up-to-date. :D

Thank you Emily :) Cherry Girls definitely doesn't sound like the type of place I'd go for - I've never advertised with any overpriced directory and I don't intend to start now.

Amy has given me a great starting point and I've picked out a few others from a forum search, so it will just be a case of waiting to see how it goes!

Thank you again :)

I get most of my traffic from Punter Link, and listing is free.

I  get most of mine from  punternet  punternet uk belles  and escortssouthwest and selectanescort  are the main ones for me then adultwork and google
when im touring then i lookl for local /regional directories like escort scotland alba ladies  blonde escorts for york and llb for manchester ect

but a lot can depend on where you based some escort directories can be regional only  so work well
I can spend anything from 50  -100 inc adultwork featurig on advertising but  it pays off  when im touring its can be more sometimes double that if in belfast and use viva st and escort ireland

website that i pay for are  ( these are monthly cost not weekly)
punternet delux advert 30
punterlink                            60
punting zone                      27.50
uk belles                              50
adultwork                         200  approx a month for featuring

So roughly 100 a week give or take  10 here or there

in ireland escort ireland  100euros a week
viva st for scotland and ireland approx 50 for 10 days featuring
